  • Question answer
  • Depilation involves removing hair from the root, resulting in the formation of microtraumas on the skin. If you follow simple rules of care after the procedure, the epidermis is completely restored within 1-2 days. If you ignore the recommendations, this can lead to irritation and even the development of an inflammatory process. Let's figure out what not to do after sugaring and waxing. Since the procedures have a common principle, the rules are the same in both cases.

    General recommendations

First, let's look at what not to do after sugaring or waxing any area.

    • After depilation, you should not sweat much. This means that you cannot visit the sauna, bathhouse, or gym for 2 days. Outdoor training is also contraindicated. You should also not sunbathe in a solarium or on the beach. Therefore, if you want to remove excess hair before going to the sea, sign up for the procedure in advance (to do it not on the day of departure, but a couple of days before).
    • Immediately after sugaring or waxing, creams and oils should not be applied to the treated areas. The exception is professional products intended for skin care after hair removal. At the same time, the master determines the appropriateness of their use in each specific case. For example, if severe irritation is observed, creams and creams are not used after depilation. They are replaced with other agents that have a powerful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect (for example, Elseda Antistress powder).
    • After depilation with wax or sugar, you should not take a hot shower (only warm showers are allowed). However, you should not use soap or shower gel. Most often, such products are alkaline and contain aggressive surfactants that can irritate damaged skin. Of course, some people use expensive and high-quality products with soft ingredients. But even in this case, it’s not worth the risk. On the first day after the procedure, it is advisable to wash with just warm water.
    • After depilation, you should not take a hot bath (especially with salt, foam and other additives). Prolonged exposure of the skin to water with diluted products in it is likely to cause irritation. Even natural sea salt, essential oils and herbal extracts can cause unpleasant consequences if they come into contact with treated areas.
    • After sugaring or waxing, you should not swim in the pool. Bleach can cause severe irritation and itching. Also, you should not swim in natural bodies of water (seas, rivers, ponds) to eliminate the risk of pathogenic bacteria getting into the microwounds.
    • After depilation with wax or sugar, you should not use scrubs, peel, or rub the skin with brushes and washcloths. Such aggressive effects can lead to damage to already injured skin. After a shower, you should also not rub your skin with a towel. It is better to carefully blot excess moisture.
    • After sugaring your armpits, you should not use deodorant for 24 hours. This applies to any variety, including products intended for sensitive skin.

    Intense workouts

The salt contained in sweat can damage sensitive skin, and the area after waxing or sugaring is just that. If you have treated your arms, legs or armpits, make sure to wear extremely open clothing so that your body can breathe, and do not engage in intense training. If you remove hair from your vulva, take a break for a couple of days to let your skin recover.

What not to do after sugaring your face

For 2 days after facial depilation, you cannot use decorative cosmetics (powder, foundation, etc.). It is also contraindicated to apply conventional creams, oils and cosmetic masks to the treated areas. The exception is special products for skin care after sugaring and waxing.

For example, using the Elseda anti-inflammatory mask will be beneficial. This is a natural remedy that has an antimicrobial, regenerating, soothing effect. The mask can be used as the final stage of the procedure in the master’s office. It is also suitable for home care for oily and problematic skin, as thanks to its medicinal components it eliminates inflammation, mattifies and tightens pores.

How to make sugar paste at home

Today, cosmetics manufacturers offer a wide selection of ready-made pastes, but most girls prepare this depilatory product at home. This product has its advantages:

    • Homemade pasta is more affordable than store-bought pasta. And this guarantees the safety of the composition and components of which it consists.
    • Sugar paste contains only natural ingredients, which is of great importance when treating the intimate and delicate bikini area, which is prone to irritation.
    • Cosmetics manufacturers may add preservatives and other components that can cause allergies to the depilatory paste. This is another argument in favor of preparing your own product for sugaring in the deep bikini area at home.

    Recipe No. 1.

This method will help prepare the paste with a reserve for further use. The volume of the resulting composition is more than enough to carry out several procedures. The mass turns out to be quite dense and looks like frozen caramel. The resulting composition is stored for a long time at room temperature. Place 1 kg of sugar in a saucepan, add 100 ml of water and the juice of 1/2 lemon.

Heat the pan on the stove over high heat for 2-3 minutes with continuous stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Next, turn the heat to minimum, cover the pan with a lid and cook for 10 minutes.

The mixture should not be liquid. To avoid this, boil it on the stove for some time with the lid open so that the excess liquid evaporates. You should get a thick, dense, viscous mass of a golden hue.

The finished composition is stored in an airtight container, after cooling. If the composition is prepared correctly, it will not be too hard and will smell pleasantly of caramel with a honey-golden color. If you mash part of the mass in your hands, it will acquire elasticity and become pliable.

    Recipe No. 2.

This method is useful if you need a small amount of paste, enough for one application.

Place 10 tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of water in a saucepan and pour in the juice of 1/3 lemon. The resulting mixture is mixed well and placed in the microwave for 2.5 minutes on low power. The mass should turn out slightly with bubbles. After this, you need to take it out, mix thoroughly and place it in the microwave again for 60 seconds at maximum power.

The prepared sugar mass must be cooled; its structure should be plastic. After it has cooled to a comfortable temperature, such that it can be picked up, you need to form the shape of a ball and stretch it until it turns white and resembles chewing gum in structure. Now you can begin the sugaring procedure in the deep bikini area.

What not to do after bikini waxing

The intimate area is the most sensitive. Therefore, it is worth discussing separately what you should not do after depilation of a classic and deep bikini.

In addition to the general tips listed above, you must follow the recommendations regarding underwear. For at least a couple of days after bikini sugaring, you should not wear synthetic underwear, which can cause severe irritation. Wearing thongs, which can rub the skin, is also contraindicated. During this period, it is recommended to wear only comfortable cotton underwear.

What else should you not do after sugaring or bikini waxing? Use healing ointments and creams from pharmacies. Some women think that with their help, delicate skin will recover faster. However, the result may be the opposite. Thick ointment creates a greasy film on the surface, which in this case only harms and slows down recovery. The appearance of unpleasant rashes is also possible. The best solution for quick healing of this area is to apply Elseda Anti-stress powder immediately after depilation. The product normalizes PH, soothes the skin, prevents the development of inflammation and promotes rapid regeneration without clogging pores.

    Tight clothes

This is one of the main reasons for the appearance of ulcers. Tight-fitting clothing—even if it's made from 100 percent cotton—doesn't allow your skin to breathe. Sweat remains on the body, irritates enlarged pores and leads to discomfort.

Try to schedule waxing or sugaring on weekends. If you have important things to do, wear loose skirts; comfortable trousers that do not fit tightly to the body; and maxi dresses, as well as breathable underwear. When sleeping, ditch your panties in favor of nightgowns or flared pajamas.

    Sex after sugaring: why not

Many people have heard that you can’t have sex immediately after deep bikini waxing. This is not a myth, but a reasonable recommendation. Firstly, men's hair contains a large number of microbes, even with proper hygiene. Therefore, with close contact, bacteria can enter a woman’s skin, which has not yet restored its protective functions.

The second reason why you can’t have sex after bikini sugaring is the increase in body temperature and sweating that occurs during this process. As mentioned earlier, this is strictly contraindicated after hair removal. Strong friction can aggravate the situation. All these factors can lead to negative consequences. Therefore, it is better to abstain from intimacy for at least a day.

Moreover, even kissing can provoke inflammation if, for example, a man has a beard or mustache, and a girl has just had the area above her upper lip depilated. Coarse male hair can aggravate irritation of skin injured by depilation and introduce bacteria into micro-wounds.

So, now you know what not to do after waxing your bikini, face and other areas. The master must give these mandatory recommendations to each client, and also warn about possible problems if the rules are not followed. Otherwise, a person can go after the procedure to the gym, then to the pool or sauna, dry off with a club towel of questionable cleanliness, and at the end put on synthetic underwear. Naturally, severe inflammation will occur in the treated areas. But the client will not even understand what the reason is and will blame the master. An informed person will be responsible for his actions, and most likely will not risk his own health.

    Fragrances

They are typically found in colored soaps, sprays and lotions. Fragrances can ruin the condition of the skin, especially when it comes to the vulva.

When taking a shower, choose washing gels without fragrances. The ideal option is intimate hygiene products: they usually do not contain anything unnecessary. When taking care of your skin - be it your armpits or bikini area - do not use deodorants or talcum powders: they can clog pores and lead to irritation. By the way, the vulva, in principle, does not need sprays or fragrances.

If you are bothered by an unpleasant odor, treat your skin with wet wipes without alcohol or spray it with water, wiping it dry with a towel. These are not ideal measures, but you won’t have to deal with pain, bumps and pustules.
