Skin care and rehabilitation after removal of papillomas

Papilloma is a benign neoplasm of a viral nature. It is a small growth that can appear on any part of the body or mucous membranes. The formation looks like a papilla on a narrow stalk. The cause of papillomas is the human papillomavirus (HPV). Papilloma does not go away on its own, it can spread, and in most cases the tumor is removed. Papillomas located on the genitals have a high risk of malignancy. Occurs in men, women and children.

Features of papillomas

Papillomas can be of the following types: ordinary or vulgar warts, filiform (the most common type), flat, genital warts, plantar warts, juvenile warts. A dermatologist diagnoses and treats papillomas.

Most often, papillomas are localized in the armpits and inguinal folds, hands, on the surface of the foot, neck, under the mammary glands in women, as well as on the genitals. Papillomas located on the mucous membranes of internal organs are very dangerous; they can cause ulceration or bleeding. As a rule, papillomas that have a pronounced cosmetic defect are removed with a laser, i.e. which are located in open areas of the body, as well as those with a high risk of cancer.

Why do you need to remove warts?

Treatment of warts consists of removing them and undergoing antiviral therapy, if necessary. Often, patients try to remove warts on their own, using various home folk remedies (celandine, etc.) - most often this leads to dissemination (reappearance of warts, the appearance of warts in other places, an increase in their number). Warts do not go away on their own; this happens in isolated cases and you should not count on it. Warts are not only an aesthetic problem; sometimes they are accompanied by more serious problems. Periungual warts can lead to detachment or deformation of the nail plate. Plantar warts cause pain while walking. Therefore, warts should be eliminated as soon as they appear to avoid possible consequences. If warts are removed in a timely manner, the procedure will be less painful, faster, cheaper and the healing process will be easier.

When is it necessary to remove papilloma?

Benign skin tumors cannot always be removed; sometimes observation and regular examinations are sufficient. The most common indications for removal are the following:

  • papillomas located on visible parts of the body and causing psychological discomfort;
  • papillomas that are constantly injured by clothing, jewelry, and a comb;
  • neoplasms that increase in size, tend to spread, change size, shape and color;
  • papillomas located in the intimate area or soles;
  • if the tumor begins to hurt, itch or bleed.

Why do warts appear?

Warts are caused by infection with a virus that causes warts.

Only skin cells (palms, soles, less often the face, body) become infected and warts appear in these places in groups or individually. The virus is transmitted through household contact with sick people or through common objects (swimming pools, bathhouses, locker rooms).

Infection is also facilitated by a weakened immune system, the presence of wounds, scratches, and cracks.

Preparation and carrying out laser removal

Laser removal is preceded by a thorough examination and examination of the tumor. The doctor must be sure of its benign quality; in case of any doubts and the borderline state of the cells, laser technology is not used, but a surgical operation is performed.

During the procedure, under the influence of a laser, heating and layer-by-layer destruction of neoplasm cells occur, so it is impossible to take biological material for subsequent research. Additionally, the doctor surveys the patient about possible contraindications to the procedure, and also conducts a number of studies (blood tests).

No special preparation is required for the procedure. At the appointed time, the patient comes to the specialist, the operation includes the following stages:

  1. Disinfection of the surgical field.
  2. Conducting anesthesia (if necessary). For this, an injection, gel or spray is used.
  3. Installation of the device to the required laser length.
  4. Layer-by-layer evaporation of the neoplasm.
  5. Treat with an antiseptic and apply a bandage if necessary.

To avoid relapse of the disease, it is necessary to carry out antiviral therapy, as well as take immunomodulating and immunostimulating drugs to strengthen the immune system.

How to get rid of skin tumors

Self-medication and folk remedies give the illusion of treatment and allow you to have a good time searching for the “wonderful herb” that will cure all diseases. Grandmothers often advise using celandine, which burns warts, and if it doesn’t burn them, it definitely harms them. Some tumors may disappear, which occurs most often in adolescents. The peculiarity of this age is that at the age of 11-15 the immune system undergoes a fundamental change and can reject the tumor on its own. There is no point in attributing the disappearance of warts to the fact that you tied a thread on it a couple of years ago. A silk thread will remain a thread, and celandine extract can cause a chemical burn. Quite often, all sorts of folk methods provoke the spread of the virus through the skin, and existing tumors only accelerate their growth after cutting with a blade.

Remember that wiring should be repaired by an electrician, but illnesses should be treated by a doctor. No experienced grandmother can have more experience than a doctor who sees dozens of patients every day.

Official medicine can offer several methods to get rid of the problem of skin tumors. First, removal using a scalpel or electric knife. An effective method for removing malignant tumors, which justifies the consequences in the form of a scar at the site of skin incision. The use of an electrocoagulator leaves quite noticeable marks from baking the skin.

Using liquid nitrogen for cryotherapy is very cheap. The level of nitrogen penetration is difficult to control, so everything happens by trial and error. Light spots remain at the sites where papillomas were removed. It turns out the process of exchanging awl for soap. You can remove a wart using this method several times, because... the neoplasm begins its growth from the deep layers of the skin, and nitrogen has difficulty penetrating to such a depth.

Removal of tumors using a radioknife has a gentle effect on adjacent areas of the skin and allows better control over the depth of penetration of the waves. The specialists who attended the testing of the equipment noted the advantages of this method of getting rid of tumors. The action of the radioknife is similar to the operation of an electrocoagulator and CO2 laser action.

What virus causes warts?

Papillomaviruses are a huge family of viruses, some types of which cause warts of various types. The papillomaviruses that cause warts should not be confused with HPV of the genital organs (genital warts, anogenital warts). This virus, and therefore the warts themselves, is transmitted through household contact with patients or through common objects (swimming pools, baths, locker rooms). Infection is also facilitated by a weakened immune system, increased skin permeability, the presence of wounds, scratches, and cracks. Viral warts are flesh-colored, brown, golden, or whitish in color. Appear in groups or singly.

What is papilloma disease?

Papilloma disease is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is the common name for a large group of viruses consisting of more than 70 different representatives. These viruses cause diseases of various human organs (for example, the genitals or skin). During the research, each HPV virus was given its own serial number. All these viruses differ from each other in their own DNA composition.

Most often, HPV is transmitted through sexual contact; infection is also possible through contact of damaged areas of the body with various secretions of a sick person.

Symptoms and signs of human papillomavirus infection primarily depend on the type of virus. There are several main groups of diseases caused by HPV:

  1. Warts are painless formations of various shapes that do not differ in color from neighboring skin. Most often they appear on the palms and soles. Such formations do not cause any inconvenience other than aesthetic ones.
  2. Genital condylomas are warts, usually located on the mucous membranes and skin of the genital organs. In appearance they are convex formations with uneven edges.
  3. Bowenoid papulosis - manifests itself in rashes on the skin of the genitals. They look like flattened plaques of pink, yellow or white color. This disease is dangerous because it can develop into skin cancer.
  4. Bowen's disease is a disease that occurs only in the male population. A raised, velvety, red plaque with clear edges appears on the genitals.
  5. In women, certain types of HPV can cause cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, which is a precancerous stage of the cervix. Unfortunately, such diseases very often are asymptomatic until the final stages, at which the effectiveness of their treatment decreases.

Diagnosis of HPV takes place in several stages and begins with a general examination of the patient to visually determine the type of formation. The most reliable and accurate method is the polymerase chain reaction. Its essence is the determination of viral DNA in human material submitted for analysis. The most modern diagnostic method today is the Digene test. It allows you to find the virus, determine its DNA and the degree of malignancy.

After correct diagnosis, it is very important to carry out timely treatment of warts and papillomas.
