My nose is oily, what should I do? Features of daily care

Last update: 02/21/2021

Each of us dreams of having smooth, velvety skin that looks flawless in any weather and in any condition. But what to do if an unpleasant oily sheen appears on your forehead, chin and nose? An experienced doctor, Valentina Andreevna Razheva, will tell you why facial skin sometimes resembles an oily pancake and what to do to remove oily shine.

How do you know if your skin is oily?

Each of us can determine our own skin type. If your skin becomes shiny from time to time, it is most likely prone to oiliness. Dermatologists consider other characteristic features of oily skin to be:

  • Enlarged pores.
Pores quickly become dirty and expand because of this. The face looks lumpy and loose, and the skin on the forehead, chin and nose begins to shine.
  • Tendency to inflammation.
Oily skin is many times more likely than dry skin to become inflamed, acne, rashes, and redness appear on it. The thing is that the glands that produce sebum work too actively. Excess fat accumulates, hardens, and plugs appear on the surface of the skin, which interfere with its self-cleaning. Blackheads and inflamed pimples appear on oily skin.
  • Problems with cosmetics.
Cosmetics don't stick well to oily skin. Due to the greasy sheen, powder, foundation and even blush “float”, and disappear 2-3 hours after application.
  • Frequent greasy shine.
The skin begins to shine about 2 hours after the morning toilet.

Surely each of you knows a rapid test for diagnosing oily skin. You need to apply a thin paper napkin to your face. If marks remain on it, it means that the skin produces too much sebum and is prone to oiliness.

Adviсe

To permanently cope with excess skin shine, you need to provide a whole range of measures. To combat unpleasant symptoms, you can use the services of a cosmetologist or resort to folk remedies.

In any case, therapy methods are based on general rules, which include the following:

  1. Use special cleaning compounds that have a neutral-alkaline balance. This category includes gels and soaps, as well as makeup remover liquids.
  2. Provide the skin with a sufficient level of moisture.
  3. Avoid squeezing pimples, as this creates the preconditions for infection. It is much better to use products that have exfoliating properties.
  4. Avoid applying excessive amounts of foundation or powder, as this will cause severe contamination of the pores.

  5. Eat right, eliminating the consumption of sweets, smoked foods, and fried foods. Experts also advise reducing the amount of salt.
  6. When washing your face, use a gel and a brush, which will help you get rid of dirt. First you need to use hot water, which helps open the pores. Finally, rinse the face with cool water.
  7. Use creams every day that help moisturize the skin.
  8. Use a scrub three times a week to ensure good cleansing of the skin.
  9. To achieve better opening of pores, you can take steam baths.

To cope with severe oiliness of the dermis, you need to avoid artificial tanning. The fact is that irradiation in a solarium heats the skin, triggering hormonal changes in it. As a result, the activity of the sebaceous glands increases significantly.

In addition, you can only touch your nose with clean hands or special napkins. It is recommended to wash your makeup brushes every week to prevent infection of the dermis.

Oily skin on the nose is quite common and can be associated with a variety of factors. To cope with this problem, you need to provide the dermis with proper care, adjust your diet and use folk remedies.

Causes of oily shine

Firstly, don’t worry if your skin becomes shiny on a hot day, in a stuffy room, in a bathhouse or sauna. In this case, its shine is a normal reaction of the body.

Common causes of oily shine are:

  • Gastrointestinal diseases
, for example, stomach, liver, intestines. Improper functioning of internal organs most often immediately affects the skin.
  • Hormonal surges.
Sebum is produced most strongly before menstruation, during or after pregnancy, as well as when the endocrine system is imbalanced.
  • Frequent stress.
It's no secret that constant hassle has a bad effect on your appearance. The nervous system causes the glands to work more actively, which causes oily skin.
  • Poor nutrition.
An excess of fried, fatty, spicy and smoked foods in the diet very often provokes excessive oiliness. In addition, an excess of sweets and soda in the diet leads to excessive oily skin.

Incorrect care and use of low-quality cosmetics can also lead to the appearance of an oily sheen. And, of course, a common cause of the problem is considered to be a hereditary predisposition to fatness.

Two-step cleansing

The foundation of skin care is two-step cleansing. First, it is important to remove makeup using micellar water or special milk. It is important to properly moisten the cotton pad with a special product, because dry cotton wool can subsequently cause facial wrinkles.

Even washing your face in the morning, without makeup on your face, is better to start with milk. The product will remove all impurities from the surface of the skin and prepare the face for the next stage of cleansing.

After washing with milk, you should use a gel or foam for oily or combination skin. Products with aloe, chamomile, cucumber, apple, witch hazel and other natural ingredients will be effective. But the content of salicylic and lactic acid in cleansers should be no more than 2%.

An effective product for use after cleansing for those with problematic skin prone to oily shine is the STOP ACNE Basic Care mattifying cream-gel. The main components of the product are:

  • ALPAFLOR ALP-SEBUM complex (alpine fireweed extract) with clinically proven effectiveness. The complex controls the functioning of the sebaceous glands and reduces oily skin, has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergenic effects, and also eliminates irritation and redness of the skin.
  • Betaine, which prevents dehydration of the epithelium.
  • Boron nitrite, an element that helps create a matte, radiant effect, maintaining a healthy glow to the skin.
  • Licorice extract relieves inflammation, redness and flaking of the skin.
  • Violet extract has anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.
  • The string extract has antiallergic, wound healing and antimicrobial effects.

Try to wash your face no more than twice a day. Remember: the more thoroughly you wash away fat, the more actively new will be produced. Do not wash your face with too hot or cold water.

What to do

To get rid of oily skin on the nose, it is very important to determine the causes of this problem. If it is caused by an imbalance of hormones due to adolescence, it is very important to provide the dermis with adequate care.

Serious lifestyle adjustments are of no small importance.

Normalize nutrition

Violations in the menu negatively affect the condition of the dermis. Many products provoke activation of the sebaceous glands. To minimize the occurrence of such problems, you need to take plenty of vitamins and drink enough fluids.

Fresh fruits and vegetables will help improve your skin condition. Experts also advise eating nuts and natural juices.

At the same time, there are a number of products that are contraindicated in case of excess fatty epithelium on the nose. The main recommendation is to avoid eating simple carbohydrates. Experts advise completely eliminating sweets, sugar, and cakes from the menu.

It is these products that contribute to increased oiliness in the dermis and can even lead to the formation of acne. In addition, it is very important to eliminate caffeine consumption and avoid excess protein foods.

Washing

If unwanted oily shine appears on the nose, you need to use a special foam cleanser to cleanse the dermis.

An excellent solution to this problem is a combination of soap and salt.

To implement this method, it is recommended to soap a cotton pad and then apply a little salt to it. Use the resulting product to wipe your nose and other oily areas. After drying, the composition must be washed off with water.

If your skin doesn't respond well to soap, you can use oatmeal. To do this, pour boiling water over a couple of spoons of oatmeal to get a paste. It must be applied to the nose, performing gentle massaging movements.

Toning

Those with oily skin should not use alcohol lotions. They dry out the dermis, which will ultimately cause even greater activation of the sebaceous glands. As a result, the problem will only get worse.

To give the epidermis the required tone, it is recommended to make products based on infusions of medicinal plants. They should have anti-inflammatory and soothing characteristics. In this case, mint, yarrow, and sage are ideal.

To cope with oily shine, it is recommended to add finely ground natural powder to such products.

  3. You can take matting napkins to work or school. This will help maintain an attractive appearance throughout the day.
  4. Use cosmetics that suit your skin type.
  5. Choose medicinal cosmetics with the most natural composition.

When choosing cosmetics, you need to pay special attention to its composition. It must contain ingredients that have sebum-regulating properties. These include extracts of citrus fruits - orange, lemon or grapefruit. Mint and cinnamon have similar properties.

Thanks to the regular use of such products, you will be able to forget forever about the problems of excess fat in the dermis.

Special care

In addition to daily care, special procedures will help remove oily shine on the skin.

  • Twice a week, during the evening wash, you should use an exfoliating agent - special milk, soft peeling or foam.
  • From one to three times a week it is allowed to make cleansing and moisturizing masks that will regulate the functioning of the sebaceous glands.
  • Those with an oily sheen should never touch pimples, much less try to squeeze them out. Inappropriate actions can cause scars to appear and infection to spread, which can lead to even more acne. Any mechanical cleaning should be carried out only by a cosmetologist.
