Pharmacological properties

The medication belongs to the group of hormonal drugs with a wide spectrum of action. The active ingredient is betamethasone. To improve the therapeutic effect and expand the scope of application, the drug contains antifungal and antimicrobial substances, and in rare cases, salicylic acid.

The therapeutic effect is achieved by isolating accumulations of leukocytes and suppressing their action, due to which anti-inflammatory substances are released at the site of the inflammatory process. The effect of the drug is also aimed at reducing swelling, reducing itching and burning sensation in the affected area. At the same time, the process of restoration of damaged tissues is activated.

The popularity of the drug is associated with its complex effect on the epidermis, as well as its high efficiency. The main properties of Akriderm include:

  • removal of edema;
  • eliminating discomfort in areas of skin damage;
  • antiallergic effect;
  • antifungal and antibacterial action;
  • “dries out” damaged areas;
  • promotes rapid tissue regeneration.

The medicine acts immediately after application, penetrating into the tissue through the pores.

For example, if the therapeutic effect of Akriderm GC is more pronounced, then using Akriderm genta even in large doses will not achieve this effect.

Also, the speed of therapy is an indicator of the speed of the therapeutic action; Akriderm GK and Akriderm gents are approximately the same. Treatment of more serious thermal injuries with this drug is not effective.

Instructions for treating burns:

  • Before treating the damaged area with the medicine, it must be thoroughly rinsed with warm water.
  • The medicine is applied to the affected areas in a thin layer. It needs to be rubbed a little into the underlying tissue. The procedure is carried out up to three times a day.
  • Applying a bandage is strictly prohibited.
  • The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the burn and the individual characteristics of the patient. Usually it is about two weeks. If there are no visible improvements, you should contact your doctor to adjust the treatment.
  • If you notice the first symptoms of an allergic reaction, you must immediately stop using the drug.

Various side effects may occur when using this medication. In this case, your doctor will prescribe an alternative course of treatment.

Composition of the drug

The uniqueness of the drug lies in three active substances:

  1. Betamethasone dipropionate. It penetrates deeply into the site of inflammation, has high hydrophobicity, provides a rapid therapeutic effect and long-lasting action. One tube of cream contains 0.064 g of betamethasone dipropionate.
  2. Gentamicine. This substance is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group. Provides a bactericidal effect against many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. Akriderm GK cream contains 0.1 g of gentamicin sulfate.
  3. Clotrimazole. It has a pronounced antifungal effect. The drug contains 1 g of clotrimazole.

Thanks to the combined composition, the drug not only relieves itching, redness and inflammation, but also helps eliminate pathogenic microorganisms. The active substances present in the cream complement and enhance each other’s actions, which will allow for more successful treatment of both subjective and objective symptoms of the disease.

Due to the higher concentration of water, the product is absorbed faster and is suitable for wet and thin areas of the skin. Also suitable for use on lesions localized in large folds of the skin.

In addition to purified water, the auxiliary components of the Akriderm GK preparation are:

  • petrolatum;
  • propylene glycol;
  • liquid paraffin;
  • cetostearyl alcohol;
  • macrogol cetostearate;
  • disodium edetate;
  • sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate.

Contraindications

Like all hormonal drugs, Akriderm has contraindications for use, the list of which is quite extensive. The drug should not be used in the following cases:

  • in case of individual intolerance to one or more components of the drug;
  • hypersensitivity to the drug;
  • lupus;

pharmachologic effect

The drug "Akriderm GK" has a versatile effect:

  • anti-inflammatory;
  • antiallergic;
  • antibacterial;
  • antifungal (fungicidal).

This effect was achieved largely thanks to betamethasone. This component is a glucocorticosteroid and has a local anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, anti-allergic effect.

In turn, gentamicin has a bactericidal effect. It even suppresses microorganisms that are resistant to other antibiotics.

The main function of clotrimazole is to prevent the activation of fungal flora against the background of the action of gentamicin. This component is an antifungal agent from the group of imidazole derivatives for topical use. It has an effect by disrupting the synthesis of ergosterol, which is an integral part of the cell membrane of fungi. Clotrimazole is also active against pathogenic dermatophytes, yeast and mold fungi.

Side effects

In case of overdose or improper use of the drug, side effects may occur:

  • dryness and flaking of the skin;
  • atrophy of the skin on the treated area;
  • facial skin pigmentation may increase;
  • disruption of the adrenal glands;
  • prickly heat;
  • excessive development of hair at the burn site;
  • increase in total intracranial pressure;
  • skin irritation;
