Jessica Notaro
In 2007, the bright brunette became a finalist in the Miss Italy competition. Jessica managed to combine her modeling career, work at the dolphinarium and her personal life. The beauty began a fatal affair with dark-skinned Edson Tavares. After a period of flowers and dates, the man began to show cruelty and Notaro broke up with him, refusing marriage. Distraught, Edson took the extreme step: he attacked his ex-girlfriend, throwing acid in her face. The beauty queen was urgently hospitalized with burns to her face, neck and eyes. The main thing Jessica prayed for was to preserve her vision.

After leaving the clinic, Notaro spoke about her experience on a talk show, where she first addressed Tavares, showing her mutilated face. “I want you to see what you did to me,” the girl said. Pain, expensive drugs (medicines cost about 800 euros per month), operations are a thing of the past for her. A year and a half after the tragedy, Jessica took part in a dance show and walked on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival, where she looked brilliant.

Katie Piper
The British TV presenter met her boyfriend Daniel Lynch on social networks. An athlete and a gallant boyfriend - this is how the man seemed to Katie, the truth about which she did not know: Lynch had previously been behind bars for assaulting a person. Piper became his victim after two weeks of dating. Daniel beat the girl, subjected her to violence and threatened to kill her if Piper went to the police. And two days later, his accomplice doused the presenter with acid.

When baby Anmol, which means “priceless” in Hindi, was only two months old, tragedy struck
The injuries were terrible: the substance damaged internal organs, eroded eyelids, ears, face, neck, and chest. Piper underwent 40 (according to other sources - 80) operations, recovery took about 9 years. The criminals received life sentences, and Katie, as she herself says, received an important lesson: “Now I love life more than before and believe that I have a wonderful future.” The TV presenter got married and gave birth to a daughter five years ago.

Consequences
Note! In the absence of timely intervention, the following complications are possible:
- Chronic conjunctivitis is a non-infectious inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye.
- Keratitis is an inflammation of the cornea with partial blurring of vision.
- Blepharitis is a chronic and difficult-to-treat inflammation of the eyelid margins.
- Cataract is partial or complete clouding of the lens of the eye.
- Glaucoma is a dangerous pathology characterized by increased intraocular pressure and the development of optic disc pathology.
- Corneal ulcer - numerous small ulcers form on the cornea of the eye, which cause discomfort and reduce visual acuity.
In extreme cases, complete atrophy of the eyeball and 100% loss of vision are possible.
Eleonora Kondratyuk
In 1998, the blue-eyed blonde won the audience award and the title “Miss Charm” at the Miss Sochi competition. Unfortunately for her, Elya, along with other admirers, charmed the Caucasian Ruben Grigoryan, who began to pursue her, wanting to get to know her better. Kondratyuk refused - after another “no,” the man said: “You will cry tears of blood.”
On September 2, 1999, Eleanor was attacked by an unknown person, who, as it later turned out, was Grigoryan’s accomplice. A sharp pain pierced her body, her eyes stopped seeing - the girl barely managed to run to school, from where she was urgently taken to the burn center. But they couldn’t operate right away - the attackers mixed acid with vegetable oil - all that was left was to wait for the corroding process to end.
The injuries were incompatible with life. But the girl survived. After 200 operations, Eleanor is still forced to see doctors due to the risk of vision loss, but a huge part of the treatment is already behind her. More than 10 years after the tragedy, Kondratyuk met the man she loved and got married. She also published the book “I Chose Life” to help people in trouble.

First aid for acid or alkali burns
Providing first aid for burns with acids and alkalis should occur as quickly as possible, since the consequences of the injury depend on this.
In case of an acid burn, you must:
- Carefully remove clothing if it has been splashed. At the same time, you need to try to do this carefully so as not to touch healthy areas of the skin. If it is impossible to undress without touching healthy areas, you need to cut the clothes.
- Immediately rinse the burn under a gentle stream of cool water. Water will help remove chemicals from the skin and dull the burning sensation. You need to wash the burned area for at least 20 minutes: the chemicals quickly penetrate the skin and can affect it at a relatively great depth. If the victim did not have the opportunity to do this immediately after the incident, the washing time should be increased to 30-45 minutes.
- Residual effects of chemical exposure should be neutralized. Please note: acid and alkali burns look and are treated differently. The effect of alkali, which causes a deep wet ulcer, can be eliminated by treating the damaged area with a 2% solution of boric, acetic or citric acid. What to do if you get an acid burn? The actions should be as follows: after the chemical gets on the skin, a dry scab forms, which is important to rinse in time under cool running water, and then treat the damaged area with an alkaline solution. Soapy water, a 2% solution of baking soda or 0.5% ammonia will do.
- After the manipulations, you need to apply a damp sterile gauze bandage to the burned area and take the injured person to the hospital.
Lakshmi Agarwal
An Indian woman paid with her health and appearance for refusing to get married. When she was 15, a 32-year-old man bombarded her with love messages and demanded her immediate consent to the wedding. And when he didn’t receive it, he doused Lakshmi with a caustic mixture at the bus stop. “I begged for help, but no one helped me. Everyone was running in the opposite direction. I felt my flesh burning and I covered my eyes with my hands. This reflex action saved me from complete blindness,” the girl recalls.
For the next eight years, Agarwal barely left the house. The girl could not find a job, her acquaintances turned away from her, and meanwhile the offender was released. Everything changed after 2013. Lakshmi achieved restrictions on the sale of acid, and during the campaign she met a journalist who became her husband.

Acid burn: first aid
This chemical is used in the oil, leather, metalworking, food (as an emulsifier), chemical and agricultural industries (as part of mineral fertilizers). Upon contact with the skin, it causes the skin to turn white, followed by a brown tint.
Contact with skin, mucous membranes, or inhalation of vapors of this substance can cause acid burns. Treatment comes down to the recommendations described above.
Boric acid burn
This substance is used mainly in medicine, photography, the food industry and some other industries. If you are burned by it, immediately carry out the first aid procedures described above.
Citric acid burn
This chemical is used in cooking, the food industry, and in the production of cosmetics. If ingested in large doses, it can cause damage to the esophagus.
Nitric acid burns
Upon contact with this substance, the skin turns yellow. Long-healing ulcers may appear, so it is necessary to provide first aid to the victim as soon as possible.
Chemical burn with hydrochloric acid: first aid
This caustic substance is used in the food and hydrometallurgical industries, as well as in medicine. If it comes into contact with the skin, it causes severe burning and the formation of scabs. Can be neutralized with a soda solution.
How to treat a burn from acetic acid?
Aqueous solutions of this substance are used in cooking, household preservation, repair work (for example, dyeing), book printing, as a solvent, and in the production of certain pharmaceuticals. The burned area of the body must be treated in the same way as in the cases described above.
Acetic acid burn and its features
What to do if you are burned by acetic acid? Treatment should follow the principle described above. Please note that the consequences of a skin burn with acetic acid can be very dangerous (including tissue necrosis), so first aid must be provided immediately!
If the victim ingested the chemical, the larynx may be damaged (damage to it can lead to lack of air), the mucous membrane of the mouth, the esophagus, and the stomach. It is not recommended to induce vomiting, since repeated passage of the chemical through the gastrointestinal tract leads to very serious consequences. It is necessary to give the victim a large amount of drink and take him to the hospital as quickly as possible, where he will have a tube inserted and his stomach will be washed out.
Reshma Kuresha
The girl became an accidental victim of an acid attack. The attack was organized by her older sister's ex-husband, from whom she fled due to violence. But Reshma, 17 at the time, also got it. Unable to get money from the authorities for surgery and rehabilitation, Kuresha received help from charitable organizations. And soon she herself became an activist fighting against the free circulation of acid in India.
And besides, a beauty blogger. On her page, Reshma talks about her experience and shows how she uses cosmetics to disguise scars and injuries. Two years ago, the victim was invited to walk the runway at designer Archana Kochhar's show. Kuresha did this to a standing ovation, all with the same goal - to draw attention to a pressing problem in India.

Advantages of facial contouring with hyaluronic acid preparations
- Injectable preparations based on hyaluronic acid increase the firmness and elasticity of the skin, even out its relief, eliminate wrinkles, strengthen the facial contour, and allow you to correct the shape of the cheekbones, chin and nose.
- Modern drugs, as a rule, do not cause an allergic reaction. The risk of complications when using them is minimal. They do not affect your facial expressions and facial expressions in any way, since they do not affect the work of facial muscles.
- Displacement of fillers based on hyaluronic acid is excluded, while synthetic preparations can migrate and thicken over time, causing deformation and provoking inflammation in the injection area.
