Gynecological diseases as causes of facial acne in women

Breakouts and dirty makeup brushes

There is such a sign that if you do not periodically wash your makeup brushes, then sooner or later you may encounter the appearance of rashes on the skin of your face. Women often use sponges and brushes to apply blush, powder, and foundation. But if you have oily or problematic acne-prone skin, it is better to give preference to disposable products.

For example, compact powder can be applied with a cotton pad, disposable sponges can be used for cream, and blush can be blended with your fingers. If this option does not suit you, make sure that your brushes are always clean. There are special products for washing them. Don’t forget to periodically get rid of old makeup tools.

How to remove pimples* on the cheeks: treatment features

A cosmetologist or dermatologist can tell you how to get rid of acne* on your cheeks after conducting a diagnosis and determining the severity of the disease. For mild to moderate acne, topical medications are mainly used; with average – complex treatment is necessary; in severe cases, emphasis is placed on systemic therapy [18]. Auxiliary measures may also help:

  • correction of diet and getting rid of bad habits;
  • refusal of comedogenic cosmetics;
  • stress reduction;
  • carrying out special cosmetic procedures (peelings, cleansing, polishing).

Regardless of the location of the rashes, it is not recommended to remove them yourself. This can only worsen the condition, and a scar or pigment spot may appear in place of the pimple*.

Frequent phone conversations and small red pimples*: where is the connection?

Where does your phone go? In your purse, on the table, in your hands, in your pocket. Agree, these are not the most sterile conditions. Dust settles on the gadget screen, cosmetics imprint, bacteria multiply, and when you put the phone to your cheek, they get on the skin.

It is important to wipe your phone down more often and try to keep it in a case that covers the screen so that it gets less dirty. Although this factor is not the leading factor in the formation of acne, it can also cause rashes.

Pimples* on the cheeks: which organ can hurt?

There is an opinion that there is a connection between the location of the rashes on the face and the functioning of the organs, that is, by the pimples* on the cheeks it is determined which organ is suffering. And this is what the rashes in this zone mean [208]:

  • disturbances in the functioning of the stomach (pimples* are located under the cheek line);
  • lung diseases (inflammation is localized in the middle and lower parts);
  • diseases of the gums and teeth (rashes in the lower part).

In addition, rashes on the cheeks may indicate a lack of positive emotions and lack of oxygen. But there is no scientific evidence that acne* on the cheeks and the functioning of organs are connected.

Perioral dermatitis: causes

Experts have not fully identified the causes of perioral dermatitis. However, it is generally accepted that this is a complex, multifactorial disease that has a wave nature (with stages of exacerbation and remission, respectively).

It is usually customary to associate the appearance of a rash around the mouth with hormonal changes that occur:

  • when taking various medications, primarily when using ointments based on corticosteroids. Most often, corticosteroids are prescribed as one of the main means for the treatment of acne, rosacea, blackheads, eczema, etc. It is in the case of using corticosteroid ointment that perioral dermatitis can be detected in teenage boys;
  • during pregnancy: this type of dermatitis is often diagnosed in women during pregnancy, which makes it possible to assume a hormonal origin of the disease, since pregnancy most often entails serious hormonal changes in the female body. For the same reasons, dermatitis most often worsens before the start of the menstrual cycle. Hormonal changes often occur in newborns, which fully explains the possibility of dermatitis in young children.

Among other things, such dermatitis can occur due to:

  • abuse of cosmetics: most often we are talking about both decorative cosmetics (foundation and powder in the first place), and moisturizing creams, scrubs, tonics;
  • using fluoride-containing pastes that can irritate the skin around the mouth;
  • severe chapping of the skin, especially in the cold, as well as severe insolation (absorption of large amounts of sunlight);
  • infections: often during the diagnostic process various infectious agents are discovered (streptococcus, staphylococcus, etc.), but specialists have not yet been able to identify a single agent that can cause the development of this type of dermatitis;
  • failure of the immune system, which most often occurs due to a lack of vitamins in the body, especially in adolescents, who during the period of active growth experience a special need for vitamins. In this regard, it is also customary to include an imbalance of intestinal microflora, which occurs due to problems with the digestive organs, as provoking factors for dermatitis.

Perioral dermatitis: consequences

Dermatitis of this type is a very unpleasant dermatological problem, which, in the absence of timely professional intervention, can spread further over the skin of the face. In addition, usually the papules are destroyed, and in their place crusts form, the premature removal of which can cause hyperpigmentation (more intense coloring) of certain areas of the skin.

In case of large skin lesions, especially against the background of weakened immunity, including in children, purulent, weeping ulcers can form in place of papules (pimples), causing patients a lot of discomfort.

In addition, sometimes, in relatively rare cases, oral dermatitis can affect not only the area around the mouth, but also be found on the skin around the eyes, on the lower and upper eyelids. At the same time, dermatitis poses a potential danger to the patient’s vision (primarily if diagnosed in small children), and therefore requires timely consultation with an ophthalmologist

What are the main treatments for cheek swelling?

The ATLANTIS DENTAL medical center has created ideal conditions for the diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases of any complexity. If you find that your cheek is swollen, you should urgently visit a doctor. Experienced therapists and surgeons will quickly and painlessly eliminate the problem, which will avoid unwanted complications.

  • During the consultation, the doctor collects anamnesis, performs a dental examination, and prescribes diagnostic measures (x-rays, CT scans, blood tests, etc.).
  • If necessary, the patient is referred for consultation to specialized specialists: neurologist, otolaryngologist, endocrinologist, etc.
  • Based on the results of the examination, a treatment regimen is determined.
  • When cystic neoplasms, pulpitis and inflammation of the periosteum are detected, surgical intervention is necessary.
  • It may also be necessary to remove the tooth or refill the canals.

Good results are shown by treatment with antibacterial drugs, rinsing the mouth with antiseptics and applying dental gels to the affected areas.

The tooth does not hurt, but the cheek is swollen - the causes of the pathological condition

Very often, swelling is a consequence of an allergy to materials used for filling, prosthetics and treatment of dental units. In addition, the clinical situation may be associated with the body's reaction to food, pollen, dust or pet hair. In this case, the swelling does not have a clear localization and can spread to the area of the nose, lips and eyes. .

It should be understood that after the removal of a tooth, nerve or dissection of the gum, swelling and pain are considered normal and can persist for a week after the intervention. You should also exclude respiratory and viral pathologies accompanied by enlarged submandibular lymph nodes (mumps, pharyngitis), high body temperature, and chills.

Another reason is bruises and injuries to the face; in addition, the cheek may swell due to neurological disorders, for example, inflammation of the nerve. The problem is indicated by pain in the throat and parotid region, hearing impairment, facial expressions and diction.

How to relieve the condition at home?

To alleviate the condition before visiting a doctor, you can relieve pain and reduce swelling of the cheek with home remedies.

  1. A pronounced anti-inflammatory effect is exerted by rinsing infusions made from oak bark or calendula, chamomile, and sage inflorescences. To prepare the solution, two tablespoons of raw material are steamed with boiling water and infused for 15-30 minutes, after which rinsing is carried out three to four times a day.
  2. The soda-salt solution effectively relieves pain, reduces swelling and has a pronounced antiseptic effect. To do this, the components in the amount of 15 g (1 tsp) are stirred in a glass of warm water and used for their intended purpose.
  3. Dental ointments and gels, which are applied by application to the affected area 2-3 times a day, have proven themselves well.
  4. Pharmacy antiseptics are always effective, regardless of the causes of swelling of the cheek and gum tissue. Among the most popular: Chlorhexidine, Miramistin, Furacilin, hydrogen peroxide.

If your health worsens and you suspect an allergy, you need to take antihistamines, such as: Tavegil, Zodak, Suprastin, Kestin, etc. To relieve pain, take analgesics or NSAIDs - non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Important! In case of severe swelling of the cheek, “tugging” pain, high body temperature and respiratory dysfunction, urgent hospitalization is necessary. Symptoms may indicate anaphylactic shock or sepsis.

What are the main causes of swelling with pain?

The main cause is inflammatory processes of periodontal tissues, which are caused by a number of pathological conditions.

  1. Advanced caries, bad habits, ignoring hygiene rules or poor-quality root canal filling. In most cases, swelling of the cheek is preceded by pain localized on the side of the affected tooth. The source of inflammation is located in the root area and after a few days a flux can form, which without treatment transforms into an abscess.
  1. Very often, swelling of the cheek occurs due to disruption of the eruption of wisdom teeth. In this case, purulent inflammation is caused by the formation of a pocket (hood) between the gum and the dental unit itself. In addition, due to lack of space in the jaw arch, molars can occupy an unphysiological position and injure the buccal mucosa.
  1. Inflammation caused by infection of the socket after the removal of a molar very often leads not only to swelling of the cheek, but also to more serious consequences.
  1. A dental cyst is characterized by asymptomatic formation over a long period of time; when it increases to 5-7 mm, the neoplasm presses on the bone. The pathology is characterized by acute throbbing pain, accompanied by swelling and redness of the gums, as well as deterioration of the general condition.

The danger of inflammatory processes in the oral cavity lies in the close proximity of pathogenic swelling to the tissues of the face and brain. If left untreated, there is a high risk of phlegmon and abscess formation, which in extreme situations can lead to death.

Pimples on the forehead and bridge of the nose

The central region of the forehead is responsible for the intestines, its upper part reflects the state of the large intestine, and the lower part reflects the state of the small intestine. Constant inflammation along hair growth indicates a malfunction of the gallbladder. Imperfections above the eyebrows indicate heart problems, and if pimples appear on the temples, the kidneys may be sick. Rashes between the eyebrows indicate liver problems.

In such cases, doctors recommend reviewing your diet, reducing the amount of spicy, fried, fatty foods, as well as sweets. It is necessary to cleanse the body.
