5 ways to get rid of papillomas on the neck (and the main reason why they appear)

Human papillomavirus is an infection that, despite the active development of medicine, has not yet been thoroughly studied. Questions related to its selective appearance and the impossibility of complete destruction are relevant for many. It manifests itself in the form of skin growths of different sizes called papillomas.

Rice. 1. Papillomas on the neck are common.

Of the possible causes of this disease that have been established by medical practice today, there are several:
  • slow activity of immune processes in the body (under the influence of a long-term illness, pregnancy, etc.);
  • metabolic disorders;
  • excess weight;
  • disruptions in the functioning of the circulatory system;
  • load on the body with drugs (including drugs), alcohol-containing drinks, nicotine.

An infection can enter the body in various ways - at home, through sexual contact, with the blood of a sick person, or when the integrity of the skin and mucous membranes is damaged.

The main reason for the appearance is a virus

The only cause of papillomas on the neck is a specific virus that enters the body in various ways.
This is direct contact with the skin, transferring the virus to the fingertips. It is possible to become infected with papillomavirus through sexual contact, sharing bedding, towels, razors, and combs. The infection is not transmitted through airborne droplets, but transmission of the virus is possible through kissing. The main conditions for the penetration of viral particles into the skin is a violation of their integrity.

In what cases is there a risk of developing

  • There are cuts, abrasions, and scratches on the skin. The virus enters these areas, causing papillomas to appear on the neck - single or multiple.
  • The immune system is weakened due to frequent colds, chronic illness, age or immunodeficiency.
  • The skin is constantly moist with excessive sweating, against the background of thyroid diseases, metabolic disorders, and wearing synthetic clothing.
  • The virus is constantly in contact with the skin (if a spouse or close family member is infected).

Self-infection is typical for HPV, the spread of the virus from one part of the body to another if a person scratches, injures or rips off small elements on the neck, and touches the face, chest, and other parts of the body with unwashed hands.

Types of papillomas

There are many types of neoplasms that appear as a result of the activity of the papillomavirus. Externally, all types of papillomas are quite similar to each other. Only doctors can accurately determine their type: this should be done by an oncologist or dermatologist. Correct diagnosis is required to choose the most optimal and least traumatic treatment method.

There are the following types of neoplasms that appear due to infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV).

Warts

They often appear during adolescence. There are flat, thread-like, and plantar.

The first are small reddish hills. They are smooth, shiny, and contain liquid. Thread-like ones are distinguished by the presence of thin keratinized processes on the surface. Plantars do not appear on the body.

Soft fibroma

Also called acrochordon. This is a finger-shaped elongated soft pouch, which is located on a narrow stalk. The color can be the same tone as the skin, and can also be slightly darker or lighter.

Intradermal nevus

They are a type of melanocytic neoplasm. Outwardly it resembles a soft fibroma, but is larger in size. It is covered with hairs and dark dots, although completely dark formations are also found. Looks a little wrinkled.

Seborrheic keratosis

These growths are common in older people, so doctors usually call them senile warts. They look like large or small protruding plaques of keratinized tissue.

What viruses are the most dangerous?

Filiform warts in the neck area are not caused by all papilloma viruses. To date, more than a hundred different types of HPV have been identified, each of which is assigned a serial number. Some of them provoke lesions of the cervix, including cancer, others initiate rashes on the genitals, larynx or soles.

Filiform elements are most often caused by HPV types 1, 2, 27, 4 and 29.

If a person becomes infected with one of these types of virus, this does not mean that they will necessarily develop papillomas on the neck or other parts of the body. In many ways, the appearance of warts depends on the characteristics of the body, lifestyle, and the state of the immune system.

Should I get vaccinated against HPV?

Anyone between the ages of 9 and 26 can get the HPV vaccine to protect against genital warts and the various types of HPV that can cause cancer. It is recommended that children be vaccinated between the ages of 11 and 12 so that they are protected several years before becoming sexually active.

This vaccine is not usually given to people over 26 years of age. However, no matter your age, talk to your doctor to find out if the HPV vaccine may benefit you.

How to distinguish warts from moles

Before starting treatment for papilloma on the neck, it is important to make sure that it is not a mole or any other skin element. The formations on the stalk differ in appearance from other formations on the skin; it is difficult to confuse them.

  • The elements have the form of grains attached by a thin thread, no more than 1-2 mm long, to the skin of the neck.
  • Color - from yellowish, flesh-colored to light brown, pink or deeper brown (especially after tanning).
  • Papillomas can be single, located in the lower part of the neck or grouped into 5-10 elements.
  • In addition to the neck, similar elements form on the eyelids, cheeks, and near the lips.

Any damage to the skin in the area where the warts are located threatens the elimination of the virus and the appearance of new elements. It is inside the papilloma that cells accumulate viral particles especially actively. The elements are not malignant, but can cause discomfort (and look unaesthetic).

Folk remedies

Folk remedies also help get rid of papillomas. You can use the following methods.

Celandine

Preparation of herbal tincture:

  1. Squeeze out the juice and mix 2 parts of it with 1 part of medical alcohol.
  2. Leave in a cold place for 3-5 days.
  3. Wipe the papilloma with the composition once a day.

You can simply use fresh celandine juice or grind its leaves into a paste and apply them, covering the top with gauze.

Dandelion

The easiest way is to lubricate the growth with fresh plant juice once a day.

Dandelion tincture:

  1. Fill a liter jar to the top with plant heads.
  2. Fill completely with medical alcohol or cologne.
  3. Leave for 2 weeks.
  4. Strain.
  5. Lubricate the growth 4 times a day.

Garlic

Preparation:

  1. Squeeze the juice from 1 garlic and mix with 0.5 tsp. any cream (preferably for children).
  2. Apply the composition once a day, covering the top with a band-aid.

  2. Leave for 2 weeks.
  3. Wipe the growth with the resulting composition every day.

Aloe and Kalanchoe

Preparation procedure:

  1. Choose a plant that is at least 3 years old.
  2. Separate the lower leaves.
  3. Rinse and cut lengthwise.
  4. Apply the inside to the papilloma and secure with a bandage.
  5. Keep it on all night.

Violet, wormwood, plantain

All herbs should be taken in equal proportions.

  1. Pour 100 g of collection with 500 ml of vodka or medical alcohol.
  2. Leave for 3 weeks.
  3. Then strain.
  4. Use to wipe papilloma 1-2 times a day.

Medicinal collection

It is necessary to prepare 3 alcohol tinctures in advance - based on chaga, celandine and string. For this:

  1. Pour a pinch of each raw material into 100 ml of alcohol and wait 1-3 weeks.
  2. Then strain and mix in equal parts.

The liquid should be used to wipe the problem area of the body once a day.

Chestnut

For treatment you need to use kernels.

Necessary steps for preparation:

  1. Take half a bucket of fruit and pour boiling water over it.
  2. Wait 12 hours.
  3. Heat the liquid.
  4. Use for a medicinal bath.

Will also help:

Means Application
Banana peel Apply the inner side to the wart and leave overnight
Chicken egg white Wipe the growth up to 6 times a day. It is best to use chicken egg white
Essential oils of lemon, tea tree or licorice Apply directly to the growth twice a day
Rowan Once a day, moisten the neoplasm with fruit juice
Sagebrush The juice of this plant is used in the same way as in the case of celandine, but the procedure itself must be carried out up to 9 times a day
Apple vinegar Wipe the problem area 1-2 times a day

All of the above remedies have a detrimental effect on papillomas. This is due to the fact that they inhibit the reproduction and development of viruses due to special enzymes and acids. They cauterize the growths so that they gradually turn black and eventually die. It is necessary to use the products daily for 1-2 months. This time is enough for the growth to disappear. Otherwise, you need to repeat the procedure further until the tumor disappears.

These products are a must if you have an allergic reaction. To do this, before starting treatment, they are applied to the bend of the elbow and waited for 10 minutes. If irritation, redness, swelling, or rash do not appear, then home remedies can be used.

Symptoms

Typically, the rashes do not produce pronounced symptoms: they are painless and grow slowly, forming barely noticeable skin defects. By appearance, doctors determine the exact diagnosis based on examination data. Manifestations and unpleasant symptoms are possible if warts appear in places where the skin is delicate and sensitive, for example, the folds on the neck. Then the following symptoms may appear:

  • mild itching, aggravated by sweating;
  • skin irritation, especially in areas of scratching;
  • soreness and bleeding of elements if they are injured by nails.

In these cases, you need to consult a doctor so that he can determine how to treat papillomas on the neck. If the formations grow rapidly, have uneven borders and a mottled color, immediate consultation with a dermatologist is important. Under the mask of rashes, melanoma (a dangerous, rapidly progressing, most malignant skin cancer) may be hiding.

What about tobacco and alcohol?

People who smoke and drink alcohol are more likely to develop head and neck cancer. However, cancers caused by HPV can develop regardless of whether you drink alcohol or use tobacco products. People with cancer, non-smokers and people who don't drink alcohol have a longer life expectancy and are less likely to develop new types of cancer. For this reason, people with head and neck cancer should stop smoking and limit their alcohol intake. If you need help breaking these habits, MSK can help. How to remove papillomas on the neck

This should only be done by a doctor. Tips and recipes from the Internet are not always safe and help to properly remove formations (and the virus may remain in the body). Therefore, relapses of rashes are possible after several months or years.

There is no effective medicine against the HPV virus that causes warts; The existing vaccine does not protect against those strains of the virus that provoke skin elements.

In most healthy people, filiform papillomas appear and disappear on their own as the immune system independently suppresses the activity of the virus. On average, this takes up to 1-2 years.

Recommendations

The incubation period can last up to a year; If the body’s immune system has high resistance, then we can expect that the infection will not manifest itself in any way. This is why prevention is extremely important. To do this, you must follow the following rules:

  • strengthen the immune system: eat right, take vitamin and mineral complexes, walk in the fresh air, play sports;
  • avoid casual sex without using barrier contraceptives;
  • visit a gynecologist or urologist at least once a year.

Vaccinations are recommended as one of the most reliable means of prevention. 2 vaccines have been developed - Cervarix and Gardasil. Both drugs contain protein particles from the membranes of microorganisms. The DNA of the virus itself is absent, so such a similar drug is completely safe.
