The aroma of rose oil is always associated with femininity and sensuality. Even in ancient times, it was believed that it was the blood of the goddess of love Aphrodite herself. In addition, the rose is under the auspices of Venus. Time passes, but the captivating luxurious smell of oil still attracts people. Representatives of the fair half of humanity use it to attract men and for cosmetic purposes. But few people know that ether also has healing properties. Rose oil is commonly used to eliminate reproductive problems in women.
Composition and medicinal properties
In the Christian tradition, the rose is a symbol of joy and the Resurrection of Christ. All peoples of the Earth revere this flower, considering it divine. Essential oil is produced from rose buds of essential oil varieties:
- damask;
- centifolia;
- musky.
In the summer, thousands of petals are collected before sunrise to be turned into oil by water distillation that same day. The raw materials are processed with boiling water or steam in large boilers, then condensate containing ethers is collected. During processing, a secondary product is also formed, rose water - an aqueous solution of essential oil.
The ancient Persians were the first to obtain rose oil. The largest oil producer of our time is Bulgaria. Not far from the town of Kazanlak, at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, the Valley of Roses, protected from the cold and winds, is comfortably located. This is where fragrant flowers grow and oil is distilled. Every year the Rose Festival takes place in this valley. Romantics and connoisseurs come to the holiday to enjoy flowers and buy a natural product made from Damask roses. Varieties of this variety are also grown in Crimea and Turkey, so the oils from these places have a similar smell.
Rose essential oil is always yellow or light green in color, pink oil is fake.
The natural essential oil of the royal flower is so highly valued that it is often stored in bank safes like gold. For example, Bulgarian essential oil costs about 2000 rubles. for 1 year
The chemical composition of esters of different oilseed varieties differs slightly, but not dramatically. The aroma of Damask rose is recognized as the richest. The petals of this variety contain:
- stearoptene;
- citronellol;
- phenylethynol;
- geraniol, nerol;
- farnesol;
- fatty acid.
The solid fatty part of the oil - stearopten - is dissolved in a mixture of odorous terpene alcohols. The presence of terpenoids is responsible for the beneficial properties of rose oil:
- tonic;
- antiseptic;
- anti-inflammatory;
- increases immunity;
- healing;
- emollient;
- astringent;
- decongestant.
Rose oil is primarily used as an external remedy. As a bactericidal and anesthetic drug, ether is used for herpes: the blisters are “cauterized” with a cotton swab dipped in oil. Pimples, blackheads, and suppurations are also spot-treated.
To produce 1 kg of rose oil you will need about 3000 tons of Damask rose petals
Rose oil improves women's hormonal levels, disinfects and heals the mucous membranes of the vagina. It is not for nothing that the rose is considered a feminine flower. It can even normalize the menstrual cycle.
Rose oil exhibits antispasmodic properties for pain of various locations and origins. For migraines, regularly rub your temples with diluted oil.
Anyone who has once tried to care for the body with rose oil will never give it up again. The beneficial effect of the royal remedy on dry, irritated and aging skin is especially impressive. When used regularly, it nourishes and nurtures, namely:
- relieves irritation and swelling;
- smoothes out small wrinkles;
- moisturizes;
- normalizes sebum secretion;
- evens out complexion;
- stimulates cell renewal;
- eliminates acne marks and stretch marks;
- tightens and rejuvenates;
- increases elasticity;
- eliminates spider veins on the skin;
- brightens, removes dark circles under the eyes.
The oil is used not only for cosmetic skin care, but also for the treatment of skin diseases: eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis. It has been noticed that remedies from the flower quickly relieve itching, inflammation and flaking.

It is difficult to distinguish old oil by external characteristics. It has a pronounced tart aroma; when placed in a cool place, the structure becomes thick and dense.
Nuances and features of application
Rose essential oil is not used in its pure form because it is too concentrated a product. There is a high probability of getting a destructive effect instead of a healing one. The oil does not dissolve in water; before use, the product is diluted in a base oil, milk, alcohol or honey.
If you come across a product on sale that is too cheap, carefully read the label and instructions. Most often it is not an essential oil, but a cosmetic oil. It should not be used internally under any circumstances. In this product, rose esters are diluted with a base oil in a ratio of 1:20 or 1:10.
Some manufacturers dilute rose esters with base unrefined oils:
- jojoba;
- almonds;
- peach or apricot kernels;
- avocado;
- soy
There is a type of rose oil that is not suitable for use for medicinal or cosmetic purposes. This absolute is a perfume oil obtained through solvent extraction. This option is used exclusively as perfume. Most often, absolute is made from centifolia (hundred-petalled) rose.
Presence of contraindications and possible harm to the body
Contraindications for the use of rose oil are individual intolerance, pregnancy, allergies, exacerbation of gastritis, stomach or intestinal ulcers. It should be used with caution by people with asthma. A strong odor (like any perfume) can cause bronchospasm. It is not recommended to take the product orally without consulting a specialist.
Allergic reactions to ethers often occur. In case of any health problems (redness, itching, spasms, etc.), you should stop using them. Also, for rinsing and other procedures, the oil must be diluted with sufficient water to prevent chemical burns. Do not use the product on open wounds, including rose water.

How to dry and store
In the event that there is no need to use fresh tea rose buds, they are quickly dried so that they do not lose their valuable essential oil.
The most convenient option is to disassemble the bud into petals, which then need to be laid out on paper in a thin layer so that they do not touch each other. After this, the rose must be covered with another sheet of paper. It will dry completely in 3-4 days.
Immediately after the petals dry, they are placed in a jar and sealed tightly. The duration of their storage should not exceed one year.
Hair care
Rose oil strengthens hair follicles, returns vitality, shine, and strength to brittle, dry hair. The fungicidal effect of the product is clearly expressed. With constant use, dandruff and fungal infections, such as seborrhea of the scalp, are eliminated. The flower also has a beneficial effect on the production of sebum; hair does not become greasy so quickly if such a problem is bothering you. Based on the oil, medicinal compositions are prepared for the reanimation of damaged hair. However, there are some subtleties that must be observed for masks to be beneficial.
- It is better to apply the mixture to unwashed hair.
- After applying the composition, wrap your head with film and insulate it with a towel. Unless otherwise directed, keep the mask on your hair for 30 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and regular shampoo.
- If the composition is too liquid, add starch to it.
- To revive your strands and stop hair loss, you will need to complete a course of 7-10 sessions.

We refine long strands
It happens that your hair is no good, but in the evening you need to appear at the holiday in all its glory. In this case, use a conditioning mask. This mixture improves the appearance of hair.
Ingredients:
- gelatin - 1 des. l.;
- warm water - 1 tbsp. l.;
- apple cider vinegar - 1 tsp;
- rose ether - 2 drops.
- Soak gelatin in water in a ratio of 1:3. After 15 min. reheat. When it dissolves, remove from heat.

Wash your hair with shampoo as usual. Apply the mixture to damp hair. After 5 min. wash it off. When the strands are dry, comb them. The brilliant, fragrant waterfall of “laminated” hair will surprise those around you. For those who have never applied such a mask: try the composition at least once, not before an important event. Brittle, weakened hair does not like this type of treatment. Do not use the gelatin mixture more than 2 times a month.
A gelatin mask is not recommended for hair that is too thin; it may look greasy and slick.
Advantages and disadvantages
The ether has a complex effect on the skin, helps restore youth and refresh the tone. But when using it is worth considering not only the benefits, but also the possible harm of the concentrated product.
Pros:
- suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, irritation-prone skin;
- can be used throughout the year;
- has no age restrictions, solves problems of teenage skin, effective use even after 40 years;
- combined with base oils, esters, herbal compositions, you can enrich finished cosmetic products;
- can be used for delicate skin of the eyelids;
- economical consumption, 1-3 drops of ether are enough for 10 ml;
- a positive result is observed after the first procedure.
Minuses:
- refers to the most expensive ethers;
- There are a number of contraindications for use.
Royal facial
The effect of rose oil is especially noticeable when facial skin is imperfect. The ethers of the flower will return to anyone the desire to look at themselves in the mirror. A miraculous remedy eliminates redness, swelling, spots, pimples, sagging, large pores. Only facial wrinkles cannot be removed with this product. And it copes with small mesh wrinkles.
With age, the skin's reserves of moisture, collagen and elastin decrease. Therefore, it is worth starting to moisturize and nourish with rose ethers when the feeling of tightness of the skin first appears after washing. This is a signal that cell renewal has slowed down. This usually happens after 25 years. From this point on, the strength and elasticity of the skin will begin to decrease if measures are not taken.
Anti-aging skin creams
The aroma of a rose inspires even those who have never done this to create creams. An effective anti-wrinkle remedy without harmful chemicals is prepared at home from the following ingredients:
- lanolin - 30 g;
- glycerin - 10 ml;
- apricot kernel and avocado base oil - 3 tbsp each. l.;
- basic almond oil - 1/2 tsp;
- vitamin E capsules - 1 pc.;
- elderberry alcohol infusion - 30 ml;
- rose ether - 2-3 drops.

- At the same time, but in separate steamed containers, lightly heat the elderberry infusion and base oils.
- Place lanolin in the oils and dissolve while stirring. Remove from heat.
- Pour the heated infusion into the oils little by little, whisking the mixture continuously.
- Cool slightly, add glycerin, vitamin and essential oil. Mix.
The cream is stored in the refrigerator. Apply a thin layer 1-2 times a day.
Properly prepared homemade cream is better than store-bought cream in all respects.
Loose skin is restored by night cream.

The oldest rose, which is 1 thousand years old, grows in Germany near the Cathedral of the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the city of Hildesheim. Its height is 10 meters.
Face masks
When doing home facial care, use the experience of cosmetologists.
- Apply masks only to cleansed skin.
- Leave the mixture on for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Apply your usual cream, this is especially important after clay formulations.
- Lie down while the mask is in effect, do not talk, keep your face still.
- If you are using cosmetic oil rather than rose essential oil, increase the number of drops in the recipe by 2-3 times.
- In order for the results of the mask to become noticeable, they are used in a course of 5–8 procedures every 3 days.
Cosmetologists do not recommend making masks for people with normal, healthy skin under 25 years of age; it simply doesn’t make sense.
Moisturizing masks
Constant dryness of the skin leads to early aging, so it is moisturized with fatty acids of oils.
Ingredients:
- honey - 1 tsp;
- almond oil - 1 tsp;
- vitamin E capsules - 1 pc.;
- rose ether - 2 drops.
Preparation
- Add rose oil to the honey and stir.
- Combine with remaining components.
In addition to moisturizing, the skin also needs a nourishing mask made from the following ingredients:
- basic almond, avocado or castor oil - 1 tsp;
- raw yolk - 1 pc.;
- lemon juice - 1/2 tsp;
- honey - 1 tsp;
- rose ether - 2 drops.
Preparation
- Dilute the ether in a carrier oil.
- Add the remaining ingredients and stir.
Our grandmothers made masks from yolks; this product nourishes the skin and hair well and will never lose its relevance
Anti-aging mask
To tighten the contours of a sagging face, masks with a lifting effect are used.
Ingredients:
- white clay - 1 tbsp. l.;
- rose ether - 2 drops;
- milk - 1-2 tbsp. l.
- Dissolve rose oil in 1 tbsp. l. milk. Add clay.
- Add milk until the mixture is thick, if necessary.
For dry skin, keep the clay mask on your face for just 10 minutes. Do not peel off the dried mixture, rinse with water. To prevent the heavy composition from “pulling” the skin down, procedures with clay masks are carried out while lying down.
Wrinkles become less pronounced with the help of a multi-component mask. Ingredients:
- olive or other base oil - 1 tbsp. l.;
- dry mustard - 1/2 tsp;
- yolk - 1 pc.;
- aloe juice - 8 ml;
- rose ether - 1-2 drops.
Preparation
- Dissolve the ether in the carrier oil.
- Combine with other ingredients and beat.
Listen to your feelings. If the mask burns your skin too much, rinse off quickly with plenty of water. The composition enhances blood circulation, increasing the production of elastin and collagen. Contraindications to the mask: inflammation, acne, spider veins on the face, high blood pressure.
Do not laugh while the clay mixture is in action, the skin “remembers” wrinkles
Mask for acne, blackheads, blackheads
Inflamed skin needs special care; you need to clean it well, get rid of inflammation and at the same time not dry it out. These contradictory problems are solved by a mask made of the following components:
- yellow clay - 1 tbsp. l.;
- milk - 1 tsp;
- rose ether - 2 drops;
- turmeric - 1/4 tsp;
- nettle decoction - as needed.
Preparation
- Dilute essential oil in milk. Add clay and turmeric.
- Dilute with chilled nettle decoction until thick as sour cream.
Apply the composition for 10 minutes. Rinse with water and 1 tsp. lemon juice.
Turmeric is a spice that, when applied to the skin, inhibits the growth of bacteria and fights acne.
Anti-pigmentation mask
Spots and spider veins add ten years to your age. To lighten the skin, apply a mask of the following components:
- mashed boiled potatoes - 1 tbsp. l.;
- jojoba oil - 1/2 tsp;
- lemon ether - 5 drops;
- rose ether - 2 drops.
Preparation
- Dilute the esters in jojoba oil.
- Add potatoes and stir.
Keep the mixture on for 10 minutes, then rinse off.
Rose essential oil can be added to ready-made products: 3-5 drops per 100 ml of cream. But chemists do not recommend adding ether to shampoos, shower gels, and bath foam. Their composition is such that the oils simply will not be absorbed into the body or hair. This is a waste of a valuable product.
Compresses for eyelids
For dryness, itching of the eyelids, dark circles and swelling under the eyes, use homemade “rose water” lotions.
Ingredients:
- liquid honey - 1/2 tsp;
- boiled water - 1/2 cup;
- rose essential oil - 1 drop.
Dissolve the ether in honey, add warm water, stir. Dip cotton pads into the liquid and place on closed eyes. After 15 min. remove the compress. Lotions are applied every night for five days in a row. Keep the product in the refrigerator during this time. If you are allergic to honey, prepare the composition with boiled milk.
If you have rose oil, apply a little under your eyes with your fingertips. Do this with patting movements, try not to stretch the skin. Provided that the oil contains natural rose essential oil, dark circles and puffiness under the eyes will disappear.
Rose oil is very gentle on the skin around the eyes: moisturizes, brightens, tightens
Lip care
With age, without proper care, lips become thinner and transverse wrinkles appear. Store-bought balms contain few natural ingredients, so it is safer to nourish and moisturize the skin around the mouth with homemade mixtures.
Ingredients:
- jojoba oil - 10 drops;
- rose essential oil - 1 drop.
While applying the product, it is advisable to rub your lips to increase blood flow. Then the nutrients will be better absorbed. For massage use a soft toothbrush.
Application
- Mix oils and apply to lips.
- Within 2 min. Massage your lips with a brush without excessive pressure.
Solid lip balm is also prepared independently.
Ingredients:
- Shea butter - 1 tbsp. l.;
- Beeswax - 1 tbsp. l.;
- Almond oil - 1 tbsp. l.;
- Rose essential oil - 2 drops.
Preparation
- Melt the shea, wax and base oil over a steamer, stirring constantly. Remove from stove.
- When the mixture has cooled a little, add ether and stir. Pour into a convenient jar.
After a massage with a brush, lips become bright and sensual

Attention! Effective use not only for the face, but also for the delicate skin of the eyelids, to combat bags and swelling.
Ready-made products with rose ether
The yield of product after distillation is very small; a bucket of buds is required to obtain one drop. Therefore, finding natural essential oil is quite difficult. It's even more difficult to spot a fake. You will need a chromatographic study, which cannot be done at home. It is much easier to buy cosmetic oils, creams, soaps or rose water (hydrolate) with rose oil. It is preferable to buy products from places where essential oil production is located: in Crimea, Bulgaria, Turkey. Less chance of running into a fake.
An inexpensive derivative of rose oil is rose water, a secondary product of production is the so-called hydrosol. It is less likely to be counterfeited and is relatively cheap. Essentially, it is an aqueous solution of rose esters, which is further enriched with primary rose oil and stabilized with ethyl alcohol. It is this fragrant rose water, and not the oil itself, that women have used since ancient times to maintain the beauty of their skin.
A set of cosmetics with rose oil from the Bulgarian company Bio Pharm (soap with essential oil, rose water and cream with it) makes it possible to try several products at once
How to pick tea roses correctly
It is best to collect tea roses yourself. This is done at a time when the bud has not yet fully opened, in other words, the golden core should not be visible.
Petals are collected only in dry weather. There should be no dew or raindrops on the petals. At the same time, it is best to go “hunting” for tea roses at dawn: at this time its aroma is most intense.
The correct way to harvest a tea rose is as follows: holding the flower, cut off the stem at a distance of at least half a centimeter from the base of the bud.
Queen of flowers against insomnia
The most pleasant procedure for sleep disorders is a warm bath. Dilute 4-5 drops of rose oil in milk, honey, salt or base oil and pour into the bath. If a large bathtub is not available, foot bathtubs are also effective. Add 1-2 drops to a bowl of water.
For the sleeping water procedure to work, it is better to use it 2-3 hours before bedtime for 20 minutes. It is advisable that at least an hour pass after dinner. Too hot water and too long a water procedure will invigorate, not calm. Let the water temperature not exceed 37o C, otherwise sweating will prevent the oil from being absorbed into the skin.
A bath with rose oil puts you in the mood for relaxation
Rubbing oils before bed helps with insomnia. Dilute 4-5 drops of ether in 2 tbsp. l. base oil. If desired, prepare a more effective massage product.
Ingredients:
- Jojoba base oil - 10 ml;
- rose ether - 1 drop;
- lavender ether - 3 drops;
- Roman chamomile or mint ether - 2 drops.
Mix the oils. Store in an opaque container in a dark place. In the evenings, after applying the oil, rub the following areas in a circular motion:
- earlobes;
- whiskey;
- legs (feet);
- neck (collar area).
If desired, everyone can create a massage mixture based on their preferences. Rose oil goes well with the following oils:
- bergamot;
- geraniums;
- cypress;
- chamomile;
- tangerine;
- patchouli;
- myrrh;
- rosewood.

- The maximum result from cosmetic sessions can be achieved in the evening, as the skin is more susceptible to the action of active elements.
Ovulation stimulation
In case of ovulation disorders, an unconventional method sometimes helps - rubbing the abdomen with rose ether. However, it is important to do this on time: every day from the 4th to the 14th day of the menstrual cycle. To get a massage product, dissolve 2 drops of ether in 10 ml of base oil.
This massage works in several directions:
- eliminates negative attitude, apathy;
- improves blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
- relieves inflammation of female organs;
- stimulates the maturation of eggs in the ovaries.
The painting by Sandro Botticelli depicts the goddess of love Venus, in whose veins, according to ancient Greek legends, rose oil flowed
Beneficial features
The magical product is recommended for use on all skin types, including sensitive ones, due to the content of active elements:
- Diethyl alcohol has antiseptic, antimicrobial properties, activates blood flow, strengthens capillaries;
- pinene increases the protective properties of the integument, helps normalize lymph outflow, eliminates swelling and signs of fatigue;
- phenylethyl alcohol is known for its antioxidant properties, tones, gives freshness, and restores healthy skin tone;

- citral whitens pigmentation, helps smooth out scars, reduces sebium synthesis, restores bumpy relief;
- eugenol has rejuvenating, regenerating properties, normalizes renewal processes at the cellular level, improves oxygen respiration of the integument;
- Terpineol eliminates puffiness and signs of wilting, gives a fresh, well-groomed appearance, relieves inflammation and redness.
Aromatherapy
Ancient Chinese texts describe how the soul of plants lives in their scent. It’s easy to believe this when you inhale the noble scent of rose oil.
Aromatization of premises
To liken your state of mind to the beauty of a perfect flower, add 3-5 drops of ether into the aroma lamp. Without letting the water boil, scent the room for 15–30 minutes. Rose oil ennobles our condition by bringing:
- calm;
- a good mood;
- optimism;
- tolerance.
Having inhaled rose ethers, you want to hold the exhalation and preserve the sweet and refined aroma inside. In addition to the floral scent, spicy honey and smoky notes are detected. “True femininity” is how the exciting aroma is briefly described. In addition to its mild tonic effect, rose eliminates nervous tension, depression, and enhances sensuality. A harmonizing effect has been observed in all mood pathologies. This is probably due to the Queen of Flowers' ability to increase concentration. Thanks to the ability to focus on the desired state of mind, it is possible to bring it to life. In case of despondency, a rose instills cheerfulness; in case of neurosis, it calms. No other flower acts in this way.
For those who want to always “carry” the scent of a rose with them, I advise you to purchase an aroma pendant, which is worn as a decoration around the neck. The oil in it evaporates very sparingly; one drop is enough for 3 days.
An aroma pendant is not only a carrier of your favorite scent, but also a decoration
From the author: make your shadow white
Bringing beauty is a good thing when this activity does not completely absorb a person. If you elevate external beauty to the highest value, disappointments are inevitable. We become very vulnerable by allowing our happiness to depend on the presence or absence of cosmetic defects. Moderation and balance are important even in self-care.
There are very few people who are ideally beautiful in appearance. There are many more people who have a beautiful soul, but an ordinary appearance. This is sad and not fair. In this case, rose ethers extract inner beauty and manifest it outwardly. It is not for nothing that many describe the effect of rose oil in such poetic words:
- the face seems to glow from within;
- I see the glow of youth in the mirror;
- I am in a fragrant cloud of harmony and beauty;
- inhaling the scent of roses, I am happy and soaring.
This is the manifestation of inner light under the harmonizing influence of the rose scent. There is a balancing of internal and external. Beauty is brought out: on the face, body, hair.
How can a rose help if there is no peace and harmony inside? It will make your shadow white, as they say, in the poems of Vyacheslav Butusov. By performing rose oil therapy, you can finally understand what true beauty is. After all, it is in a harmonious balance of internal and external. Beauty will arise if it did not exist. Ugly thoughts, feelings, and actions will go away. Purity will illuminate the soul. It will help if it seems that your life is not real: there is no beauty in your soul, there is no beauty in your deeds. To live a full life, you need to bring your inner and outer worlds into harmony. The scent of a rose will give you a push in the right direction and will help you on the path to finding true harmony and happiness. Let roses bloom in your soul.
A little history and geography
The homeland of the tea rose is China. This flower came to Europe only in the 19th century. It was brought from China by ships of the East India Company, which were called tea clippers, since their main purpose was to deliver tea to the Old World.
English gardeners, captivated by the beauty of the flower, began to actively cross the tea rose with local species. Their goal was to obtain hybrids that could easily withstand the cold European climate and temperature changes. As a result, many so-called hybrid tea varieties were developed, which were also included in the species Tea Rose. At the same time, the plant, despite all the efforts of breeders, still remains unusually sensitive to heat, which is why it is rarely grown in open ground.
There are three versions as to why the tea rose got its name. The first theory relates this to the fact that the flower seedlings were transported on ships that delivered tea to Europe. The second version sees in the aroma of this plant a resemblance to the smell of freshly brewed elite tea. Finally, the third, most romantic theory says that the half-opened flower resembles a Chinese tea bowl in its outline.
Tea rose in Asia is found even in the wild: in the mixed forests of China, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar. There are four varieties of wildflower, but all of them are endangered.
Advice for those who live outside the city
If you are in love with the scent of rose ether, one day you will want to plant a Damask or Centifolia rose in your garden. However, this risks disappointment. Essential oil varieties bloom in one wave in June, the remaining summer months have nothing to admire and nothing to smell - the rose does not bloom. As an experienced rose grower, I recommend placing decorative roses of continuous flowering in your garden, for example, the Westerland variety. Three bushes of these roses near the windows will fill the area with a fabulous pink aroma throughout the summer season.
The unpretentious Westerland rose in my garden continuously throws out clusters of new flowers, spreading a divine aroma
Types and varieties
It should be noted that modern varieties of tea roses are very different from their ancestors. As a result of the efforts made by breeders, the flowers have become a little more resistant to climatic conditions: their branches have become thicker and tougher, and their leaves have become larger and leatherier. The shade of the buds also varies. Modern tea roses can be not only pink or yellow, but also white, red, and orange. However, most varieties of tea rose have a characteristic pearly hue.
How intense the aroma of a flower is also depends on the variety. Some have an unusually strong scent, while other varieties have a very light, almost imperceptible aroma.
As a rule, only the most fragrant varieties of tea rose are used in cooking. Many of them were bred by British breeder David Austin [4].
Alan Titchmarsh. This rose has very large double flowers with pink-lilac petals. It has an incredibly long flowering period. The peculiarity of this flower is a very sweet and rich aroma, which contains light citrus notes. Experts say that the scent of this rose is reminiscent of the aroma of those ancient Chinese varieties that once arrived in Europe on tea clippers. Most often, this variety is used for making liqueurs and jams.
Christopher Marlowe. This rose has pink-orange flowers, which are collected in lush inflorescences. It is noteworthy that they do not fade in the sun, maintaining their brightness to the end. Their aroma is very intense, reminiscent of tea with citrus notes.
Abraham Darby. This is a chameleon rose. Its flowers are very large, peach-apricot in color, and have the property of turning pink if the air temperature drops. The buds have an intense fruity aroma with notes of strawberry.
Gertrude Jekyll. The flowers have petals of a rich pink hue with an incredibly strong scent. As a rule, this variety is used for making jam. It is also a raw material for the production of perfumes.
Gentle Hermione. The flowers are distinguished by their delicate pink hue and extraordinary delicacy. They are actually transparent, but this fragility is deceptive: in fact, even rainfall cannot damage them. Their aroma is very rich, with a barely noticeable presence of myrrh.
Blue moon. These are incredibly large flowers of a soft lilac color with a silvery tint. This variety is used for making liqueurs [5].
Making rose jam
To prepare fragrant rose jam, you will need the following ingredients: 600 g of sugar, 300 g of fresh rose petals, and 6 glasses of water.
Sort the petals and rinse. Dry them on a towel, then place them in a bowl and sprinkle with two tablespoons of sugar.
Rub the petals thoroughly with your hands and drain the juice into another bowl.
Bring the water to a boil and add the remaining sugar. Mix thoroughly and, without stopping stirring, cook for two minutes. After this, strain and cool.
Pour the prepared syrup over the petals. Bring to a boil over high heat. Then reduce the heat to low and simmer for six minutes, stirring and skimming off the foam.
Add the juice of rose petals to the jam and simmer for another quarter of an hour until the syrup thickens.
Composition of rose oil
Rose essential oil is a multicomponent mixture that consists of a solid part (stearopten) and a liquid (eleopthene) aromatic part. Depending on the distillation method and where the raw material is grown, rose essential oil can vary in color: from pale green to dark yellow. At low ambient temperatures, rose oil acquires a denser consistency, reminiscent of fat. This does not affect its beneficial properties in any way; with increasing temperature, it will again acquire a liquid state.
Rose essential oil contains a large number of natural chemicals and compounds.
Citronellol and geraniol . Both of these organic compounds are responsible for the aroma of rose oil.
Citronellol is a natural ingredient in vegetable oils, fruits, teas and wines. It also serves as a remedy against ticks, but it is harmless to humans, so it has long been added to cosmetics and aromatic products.
Geraniol . A flavoring agent that is included in products with the taste and smell of peach, watermelon, pineapple and blueberry. You will also find it in lotions, lipsticks, soaps, sunscreens and many other cosmetics. Both of these substances have a rose aroma and a yellowish tint.
Nerolidol and farnesol. Like citronellol, these floral-scented substances were originally extracted from rose, citronella and lemongrass for use as a tick repellent. Both compounds are non-toxic to animals and humans, so they can be safely added to food, skin and hair products. Today we have learned to make synthetic nerolidol and farnesol, so these substances are no longer obtained from plant sources.
Limonene. This natural chemical found in the peels of oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits gives rose oil its light citrus aroma. Limonene's astringent properties make it an excellent addition in small doses to skin products and tinctures. In its pure, concentrated form, limonene works well as a natural cleaning solvent. Concentrated limonene is even used to make paints and coolants.
Eugenol. The eugenol component of clove oil gives rose oil its emollient and anti-inflammatory properties. Eugenol is a natural pain reliever that numbs the skin. It is also added to soaps, cosmetics and perfumes.
Linalool. This natural alcohol present in rosewood gives a slight cinnamon scent to rose oil. In other forms, linalool acts as a topical insect repellent. It has high levels of vitamin E, so it will be good for your skin. Many manufacturers of personal care products, including body lotions, soaps, and shampoos, add linalool to their products. Linalool may cause a flare-up of eczema if linalool products are used too heavily by people who have the condition.
Myrcene and pinene. These ingredients in rose essential oil play a role in creating the scent and taste. Manufacturers often add myrcene to perfumes and prescription and over-the-counter medications. Pinene, which has a strong odor, is found in tea tree oil and is added to deodorants and skin medications. Studies have shown that pinene has antibacterial properties that help in the treatment of skin diseases.

Origin
The first roses were brought to Thrace, bringing back the soldiers of Alexander the Great. Roses were imported into the region from Kashan, Persia via Damascus, Syria.
Humidity and cloudiness contributed to the production of roses with high essential oil content. Over time, people began to use double and repeated distillation. Thus, for the first time, rose oil became the main product of distillation, and the result was an oil of unsurpassed quality that had not been seen before. The climatic conditions of the Kazanlak region in Bulgaria turned out to be much more favorable than in the country of origin.
