To do this, you just need to purchase a special powder - usually already dosed for a single use - dilute it at room temperature, quickly mix and just as quickly apply to the skin.

“An alginate mask helps to quickly tidy up the skin, remove dull and sagging complexion, and tighten pores,” says Oksana Drozdova. — In addition, this product has a very bright lifting effect. Moreover, the alginate mask can be applied not only to the face, but also to the neck and décolleté; it tightens the skin very well.”

Alginate masks come in different types, depending on what problem they are designed to solve. Thus, a modeling alginate mask (or modeling mask) tightens and moisturizes well, a rejuvenating mask hides fine wrinkles and eliminates dull complexion, a moisturizing mask nourishes well, a lifting alginate mask optimally tightens, and so on.

“But all these masks have a lifting effect, and it is achieved due to the fact that the properties that are in the alginate mask, thanks to its dense “rubberized” layer, when interacting with oxygen, remain in the upper layers of the skin and penetrate deep inside, producing a real wow- effect,” the expert noted.

Hyaluronic acid. This natural ingredient is a real “specialist” in retaining life-giving moisture in the skin, controlling its elasticity.

Chitosan. An alginate mask containing this component will significantly improve the condition of the skin even in the most advanced cases (dryness, uneven skin texture, and so on). Chitosan also helps moisturize the dermis.

Ascorbic acid. This is an excellent antioxidant that can combat pigmentation and post-acne. In addition, this component is responsible for a healthy tone and radiance of the skin.

Mask is different from mask, and, unfortunately, it often happens that when applied, it simply rolls off the face. However, if the product is worthy and the manufacturer has met all the conditions for its production, then you won’t even think about how to properly dilute an alginate mask at home.

The most important conditions, according to our expert, are preparing water at room temperature, quickly mixing it with the powder and equally quickly applying the resulting composition to the skin. That’s why your facial skin should be prepared first: clean it of makeup and other impurities, apply serum, and only then start mixing the mask. In some cases, the manufacturer suggests using a special activator serum instead of water for mixing, which comes with a specific mask.

As a rule, the mask sets within a couple of minutes after application and becomes like a thin film that is easily removed without requiring rinsing with water.

“As for the answer to the question of how often to make masks, I recommend using them in a course - applying the mask two to three times a week for four weeks. But how long to keep the alginate mask on your face depends on the specific product, but, as a rule, you should not do this for more than 15–20 minutes,” advises Oksana Drozdova.

It is advisable to apply the mask from bottom to top while lying down. If this is not done, then even the best alginate masks, according to reviews from cosmetologists and users, will not bring a sufficient lifting effect.

“It is also recommended to additionally apply serum under any mask; thus, an alginate face mask gives the greatest positive effect, penetrating into the deeper layers of the skin,” adds our expert. “The main thing is not to apply several “actives” at the same time under the mask: such a combination can only provoke an allergy or, at best, will not make the result brighter.”

My skin is aged, a little dry, there are facial wrinkles, gravitational ptosis (drooping of the corners of the lips, outer corners of the eyes, lower part of the face).
I chose 2 Korean masks: modeling with collagen and adenosine for contour tightening and express hydration with hyaluronic acid and betaine.
At first I used a modeling one. Powder with a pleasant smell, very fine, similar to powder. I diluted it with plain water as indicated in the recipe on the package. There were no lumps, the result was a mass similar to very thick sour cream.
I cleaned my face with cleansing gel and steamed it with a towel moistened with hot water. I applied the mask with a brush, including the lips and eyelids. The composition fit well and did not leak. I left the mask on for 25 minutes.
I didn’t notice any unpleasant sensations: a pleasant chill, the skin tightened a little, but there was no discomfort.
I took off the mask from bottom to top. It was a little torn, but overall it turned out well. Remains were removed with a damp cotton pad.
I was pleased with the first result: the skin was perfectly hydrated, felt velvety and very smooth to the touch. The circles under the eyes disappeared, small wrinkles smoothed out a little. I feel like I started to look younger.
The mask did not cope with the signs of ptosis.
After 3 days, I repeated the procedure with a mask for express hydration. The method of application is the same as in the first case. I used water infused with shungite.
Result: dryness and flaking disappeared, the skin began to look healthy, color improved, tone evened out. The tightening effect became more noticeable after the second session. The wrinkles remained, but they seemed to have smoothed out and become less noticeable.
I liked the product and plan to take a full course in the future.
