Making a gelatin face mask - 11 best recipes

Hello, dear readers! I really love homemade cosmetics for their reliability, naturalness, predictability and effectiveness. But this product, which I discovered quite recently, exceeded all expectations. I hasten to share with you an incredible recipe. The hero of today's article is a gelatin face mask.

Depending on the fillers, one targets blackheads, others moisturize, and some provide a lifting effect and smooth out fine wrinkles - all from a regular food product.

Before making a mask, we study the recommendations

There are a number of rules that must be followed in order for the result to please us:

  • We use only natural products (not synthetic) with a valid shelf life . Fresh gelatin should be light yellow in color and odorless.
  • Before starting the procedure, steam your face over a container of hot water, covered with a thick towel. You can add a tablespoon of some medicinal herb to the water - string, chamomile, linden, calendula, etc. We focus on your skin type.
  • The mixture for the mask should be warm . If time is lost and the composition begins to harden, you need to slightly heat it in a water bath.
  • Apply the composition along the massage lines with a brush or fingertips.
  • Do not apply the mixture to the area around the eyes! It is better to immediately lubricate these delicate areas with nourishing or regular baby cream to mark the forbidden territory.
  • To avoid painful sensations during film removal, you do not need to apply the composition to places where there may be hairs (eyebrows, above the upper lip, at the border with the scalp).
  • You can apply the mask only to problem areas - for example, forehead, cheeks, nose, chin.
  • In order for the composition to lay evenly and neatly, you do not need to talk or smile while applying the mixture.
  • Keep the composition on your face for no more than 30 minutes.
  • Before applying the mask to your face, apply the composition to your wrist (for 10-15 minutes) to make sure that you are not allergic to any component.
  • Carefully remove the film so as not to cause skin irritation. Residues can be easily removed with warm water. Then rinse your face with cold water or wipe it with a piece of ice (to close the pores ).
  • If the film is difficult to remove, you can apply fatty cosmetic milk or cream with a swab. In a couple of minutes everything will come off without any problems.
  • After the procedure, it is advisable to apply a nourishing cream .

After the course of procedures, we take a two-month break (it can be longer if the achieved result continues to please).

Contraindications and adverse reactions

Not every cosmetic procedure is suitable for a particular skin type. Before using gelatin masks, it is worth considering that they have a number of contraindications:

  • 3-4 stage of acne;
  • presence of injuries, wounds;
  • rosacea;
  • sunburn.

If such compositions are applied excessively, the skin can become very dry, which will lead to peeling, redness, and the appearance of capillary mesh. Before applying the composition to your face, be sure to conduct an allergy test in the wrist area.

Preparing the base for masks

There are many different recipes for masks with gelatin. To prepare them at home, you need to make a gelatin base. This is done like this:

  1. Pour gelatin powder with water (distilled or boiled) at room temperature. For 1 tbsp. gelatin, take 75-85 ml of water (this is approximately 5-6 tbsp). Stir and leave for 10-15 minutes to swell.
  2. Place the container with the swollen gelatin in a water bath. Stirring constantly, keep on low heat until completely dissolved. Do not bring to a boil!
  3. After the mass has cooled, you can add the remaining components to it.
  4. Instead of water, you can use herbal infusions or homemade milk.

Rules of use

Home remedies, like store-bought ones, have their own instructions for use. Read them carefully to avoid annoying mistakes.

  • Masks made of gelatin, as well as those containing charcoal, are prohibited for people with dilated blood vessels on the face!
  • Avoid getting the mixture on your hair and eyebrows, otherwise the process of removing the mask will be very painful. If gelatin does get on your hair, wash it off with plenty of water.
  • The product must be applied in layers: each dry layer is covered with a new liquid one, and so on.

If you did everything correctly, then a mask made from gelatin and milk will delight you and your skin with deep and gentle cleansing after the first use. Good luck!

The optimal alternative is a mask with egg white, in pure form or in combination with crushed activated carbon. The product is applied to the skin in a thin layer; to enhance the effect, a napkin is placed on top. When the mixture dries, simply remove the napkins and wash thoroughly.

Egg white is a valuable beauty product. Its downside is its sharp, characteristic aroma, which not everyone likes.

If the skin is normal and dry, it is advisable to add a little base oil to the protein - olive, almond, peach. If there is inflammation or wounds, it would be better not to take risks and postpone the procedure - it may aggravate the problem. Essential oils are also added to the protein - lavender, lemon, rosemary, orange, cedar. First make sure that there is no individual intolerance.

These masks are included in the rating of the best masks with egg whites, which help solve many problems of the epidermis.

Composition of gelatin or some useful information

Gelatin (or hydrolyzed collagen protein, which we discussed in detail in this article) is a food product of animal origin. When purified and dried, it appears as colorless or pale yellow crystals with a neutral odor. For its production, bones, cartilage and tendons of cattle, as well as fish bones are used. Gelatin contains:

  • proteins fats carbohydrates;
  • amino acids;
  • starch;
  • ash;
  • biologically significant elements (calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, iron);
  • water.

Vegetable gelatin substitutes - pectin and agar-agar are made from brown and red seaweed, but we are now interested in a natural product of animal origin.

Collagen (fibrillar protein) forms the basis of connective tissue, which accounts for more than 50% of a person’s weight. In addition to its other responsibilities, it is responsible for the strength, firmness and elasticity of the skin.

Hydrolyzed collagen (without carbohydrates and fats) is better absorbed by the body. It provides effective care for problematic as well as mature skin. Alas, after 25-27 years, the body’s production of collagen slows down, so you will have to take the initiative into your own hands.

Let's sum it up

Depending on the added components, a gelatin mask will help:

  • nourish the skin with collagen, vitamins and biologically significant elements;
  • tighten and smooth the skin, give it a healthy appearance;
  • make freckles less noticeable;
  • whiten the epidermis, remove age-related pigmentation;
  • moisturize and soften the epidermis;
  • improve color and even out tone;
  • smooth out fine wrinkles and reduce deep wrinkles;
  • improve the functioning of the sebaceous glands;
  • remove blackheads and comedones;
  • cleanse the epidermis, narrow pores, remove oily sheen;
  • improve skin texture;
  • remove excess subcutaneous fat;
  • delay age-related changes.

Agree that this is cool!
