Skin formations in the intimate area, similar to warts, appear for various reasons and occur in people of both sexes. They can be a consequence of human papillomavirus infection, syphilis, benign in nature, or be a cancerous tumor. Therefore, any warts in the groin in men first need to be diagnosed and then removed. Warts that appear in the perineal area are nothing more than genital warts. They are somewhat more common in men, especially in the groin.

Viferon
This drug not only neutralizes pathogen cells, but also has a powerful immunomodulatory effect. It includes:
- Interferon alpha 2 (donor blood was not required to obtain);
- Petrolatum;
- Lanolin;
- Vitamin E.
As in the case of oxolin, Viferon is suitable for combating herpetic lesions and vulgar warts. The effectiveness of the drug is due to the fact that the interferon contained in the protein performs the body’s protective functions, which the immune system can no longer cope with. It is the weakening of the immune system that allows the human papillomavirus to infect the human body, so blocking this process is very important for relieving symptoms.
The medicine works well in the treatment of genital warts. Particular effectiveness can be achieved through complex effects, in particular through the use of candles with the same name. The list of contraindications includes only infancy (up to one year) and individual intolerance.
This product cannot be used on healthy tissue - it can only be applied to the condylomas themselves. In some cases, side effects develop, which manifest themselves in the form of itching, allergies and urticaria. All symptoms disappear on their own after about three days from the moment of cessation of treatment.
Prognosis for treatment with ointments
With timely treatment, the prognosis is good. Without treatment, complications are possible
- Degeneration into a malignant neoplasm (rare).
- The likelihood of infection of healthy people (through sexual contact, household contact). During childbirth, a mother can infect her baby.
- When papilloma is injured, secondary infection of the body is possible.
- Allergic reactions, individual intolerance.
- The appearance of multiple papillomas, the transition of the disease to a chronic form.
In order to prevent infection with papillomavirus, it is necessary to observe the rules of personal hygiene and use precautions during sexual contact (it is better to use contact methods). It is necessary to strengthen the immune system, a balanced diet, and moderate physical activity. It is possible to remove papillomas forever if you strengthen your immune system and prevent the virus from becoming active.

Review of drugs
Ointments for papillomas, and in particular for removing HPV itself, need to be selected correctly. Basically, doctors are inclined to prescribe antiviral drugs. Most of them have a unique composition, which makes it possible to fight not the consequence, but the very cause of the problem. Sometimes immunomodulators are needed in complex therapy, which strengthen the defenses and enhance the effect of ointments.
Panavir
Panavir cream is a mild remedy for papillomas. It consists of natural plant components. The drug causes the body to produce interferon, which increases resistance to viruses. In the process of application, the ointment for papillomas destroys not only the formation itself, but also its stem and root. By the end of treatment, the wart will disappear. Thanks to active compounds, the drug penetrates deep into tissues and quickly stops the proliferation process. Used for papillomas on intimate places, neck, face, mucous membranes and other skin.
The product should be applied up to 5 times a day for 7-10 days. The cost of the drug depends on the volume of the medicine - 3 g costs 150 rubles, and 30 g costs 900 rubles.
Viferon
The active substance of the gel is human interferon; the drug has antiviral, bactericidal, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. It stops the growth of formations and improves immunity. With a minimum of contraindications, it can be used by pregnant women and infants. Suitable for the treatment of warts on the head, neck, arms, legs and intimate areas.
The anti-papillomas gel should be applied every 6 hours, but no more than 4 times a day for 7 days. It is most active in the first days of the onset of pathology, when itching and redness are only observed.
Oxolinic ointment
Everyone knows about the properties of oxolinic ointment, but when treating papillomavirus, it is not a cheap nasal mixture that is used, but a 3% concentrate, the average price of which varies within 300 rubles. This is a powerful external antiviral agent that destroys the existing virus and prevents the appearance of new formations. It is suitable for treatment on any skin, even in the intimate area, and has a minimum of adverse reactions. It is applied three times a day for 14-60 days. Sometimes, if necessary, it is allowed to extend the course of therapy up to 4 months.
The greatest effect is observed if the product is used in complex therapy and the treated area is covered with wax paper on top.
Condylomas
Thanks to the active ingredients, the drug destroys viral cells, slows down growth and stops the appearance of new formations. This ointment for papillomas is used in intimate places, on the neck, torso, head, face. Condyloma also copes with warts on the mucous membranes.
The ointment can be used as prescribed by a doctor to prevent relapse. Condylomas are applied only to the affected areas in a targeted manner. The price of the drug is about 600-800 rubles.
Vishnevsky ointment
The ointment contains ricin oil, which helps remove formations. Thanks to the selection of components, the product has antiviral, analgesic and bactericidal properties. After the growth disappears, it does not reappear on the treated area. The only drawback is the specific smell that repels patients.
You need to apply the drug several times a day and cover the area with a sterile bandage. Therapy should continue until the wart disappears completely. A jar of ointment costs about 30 rubles.
Aldara
This cream for warts and papillomas has immunomodulatory and antiviral properties. Thanks to the composition, the human body begins to produce interferon and fight the virus from the inside. The drug has no contraindications, except for individual reactions.
After leaving for several hours, the remaining product is thoroughly removed with warm water. The main advantage of the drug is that it is used once a day.
Zinc ointment
The active component of the ointment is zinc oxide. Thanks to its composition, the product has bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, astringent and absorbent properties. After application, a film is formed on the selected area, which protects against the penetration of harmful elements and strengthens the skin structure.
Zinc ointment for warts and papillomas is applied 3-5 times a day to cleansed skin. Treatment can last up to 3 weeks without changing the drug. The price of the drug makes it accessible to any class of the population; one tube costs about 25 rubles.

Other drugs
Ridoxol cream is applied to pre-steamed skin no more than three times a day. The components of the composition are quite aggressive and can lead to burning, so you need to avoid contact with healthy skin and wash off the product if necessary.
Panavir, like Ridoxil, is an antiviral drug, but also improves the condition of the immune system. Skin treatment should occur no more than twice a day, but the gel has a gentle effect due to its plant base. Contraindications for use are telangiectasia, hirustism and the period of gestation. Another similar antiviral agent is Bonafton.
Some patients are prescribed the drug Epigen for treatment. Its main function is to accelerate regenerative processes. The medicine also acts as a means of preventing the appearance of new formations. To treat the genitals, a spray form is more often used. The drug contains glycyrrhizic acid obtained from licorice root.
Despite the abundance of existing remedies for condylomas, most often doctors still prescribe liniments to patients based on quinolones, that is, oxolinic and salicylic acid. If you are going to use drugs that can lead to irritation, it is best to treat the skin in a medical facility, especially if we are talking about the intimate area.
Folk remedies
Folk remedies also help get rid of papillomas. You can use the following methods.
Celandine
Preparation of herbal tincture:
- Squeeze out the juice and mix 2 parts of it with 1 part of medical alcohol.
- Leave in a cold place for 3-5 days.
- Wipe the papilloma with the composition once a day.
You can simply use fresh celandine juice or grind its leaves into a paste and apply them, covering the top with gauze.
Dandelion
The easiest way is to lubricate the growth with fresh plant juice once a day.
Dandelion tincture:
- Fill a liter jar to the top with plant heads.
- Fill completely with medical alcohol or cologne.
- Leave for 2 weeks.
- Strain.
- Lubricate the growth 4 times a day.
Garlic
Preparation:
- Squeeze the juice from 1 garlic and mix with 0.5 tsp. any cream (preferably for children).
- Apply the composition once a day, covering the top with a band-aid.
- Keep for 3 hours.
The composition should be stored in the refrigerator.
Onion
Usage:
- Cut off half the onion and squeeze the juice out of it.
- Moisten the tumor with it 3 times a day.
Onion peels are also used:
- Fill a glass jar with plant parts and fill to the top with rubbing alcohol.
- Leave for 2 weeks.
- Wipe the growth with the resulting composition every day.
Aloe and Kalanchoe
Preparation procedure:
- Choose a plant that is at least 3 years old.
- Separate the lower leaves.
- Rinse and cut lengthwise.
- Apply the inside to the papilloma and secure with a bandage.
- Keep it on all night.
Violet, wormwood, plantain
All herbs should be taken in equal proportions.
Usage:
- Pour 100 g of collection with 500 ml of vodka or medical alcohol.
- Leave for 3 weeks.
- Then strain.
- Use to wipe papilloma 1-2 times a day.
Medicinal collection
It is necessary to prepare 3 alcohol tinctures in advance - based on chaga, celandine and string. For this:
- Pour a pinch of each raw material into 100 ml of alcohol and wait 1-3 weeks.
- Then strain and mix in equal parts.
The liquid should be used to wipe the problem area of the body once a day.
Chestnut
For treatment you need to use kernels.
Necessary steps for preparation:
- Take half a bucket of fruit and pour boiling water over it.
- Wait 12 hours.
- Heat the liquid.
- Use for a medicinal bath.
Will also help:
Means | Application |
Banana peel | Apply the inner side to the wart and leave overnight |
Chicken egg white | Wipe the growth up to 6 times a day. It is best to use chicken egg white |
Essential oils of lemon, tea tree or licorice | Apply directly to the growth twice a day |
Rowan | Once a day, moisten the neoplasm with fruit juice |
Sagebrush | The juice of this plant is used in the same way as in the case of celandine, but the procedure itself must be carried out up to 9 times a day |
Apple vinegar | Wipe the problem area 1-2 times a day |
All of the above remedies have a detrimental effect on papillomas. This is due to the fact that they inhibit the reproduction and development of viruses due to special enzymes and acids. They cauterize the growths so that they gradually turn black and eventually die. It is necessary to use the products daily for 1-2 months. This time is enough for the growth to disappear. Otherwise, you need to repeat the procedure further until the tumor disappears.
These products are a must if you have an allergic reaction. To do this, before starting treatment, they are applied to the bend of the elbow and waited for 10 minutes. If irritation, redness, swelling, or rash do not appear, then home remedies can be used.
Treatment with folk remedies
Taking antiviral medications is an important component in the fight against papillomas. In combination with other treatments, it helps stop cell division and stimulate the immune system to fight the virus. The tablets must be taken by the partner of the infected person for papilloma in intimate places.
Alpizarin | Used to treat papillomas, condylomas and warts. The tablets have a natural base and act on the DNA of the virus. The course of treatment is 3 weeks. |
Cycloferon | Quite popular tablets actively fight infection and have immunomodulatory properties. The medication should be taken according to the regimen prescribed by the doctor. |
Isoprinosine | An effective comprehensive medicine for papilloma. The product has many contraindications and is used strictly according to the doctor’s recommendations. |
Novirin | Fights infection, helps restore weakened immunity. |
Allokin Alpha | The substance is widely prescribed to patients suffering from chronic papillomatosis and carriers of the oncogenic type of virus. Available in powder form for injection. |
Any medication should be taken only as prescribed by a doctor after HPV diagnosis. Tablets and solutions in this category have a large list of contraindications.
Alternative medicine has its own methods for eliminating papillomas in the genital area. Doctors consider such methods dangerous, there is a risk of damaging the skin and mucous membranes, and skipping the moment of cell degeneration.
Folk remedies for papillomas in intimate places are often dangerous; their use is possible after consulting a doctor. If you decide to be treated this way, understand that you are personally responsible for the consequences.
Soak a cotton wool or bandage with aloe juice and attach to the tumor. Change as it dries. The duration of therapy is unlimited, the plant is absolutely safe.
Celandine
You can use pharmacy serum or “Super Clean”, the technology of use is the same. Gradually the growth will begin to die off.
The use of celandine on mucous membranes is prohibited.
Kalanchoe
The leaves of the indoor plant must be cut lengthwise and secured with adhesive tape, with the flesh facing down. Wear the bandage until the leaf dries, it is acceptable to use twice a day. The effect will appear with daily use after 2-3 weeks.
Castor oil
Another recommended method is castor oil. You can buy it at any pharmacy. It is necessary to apply the oil to a cotton swab and treat the affected area. You can repeat the event for 5 days, after which the result will appear.
Alternative medicine offers other ways to get rid of condylomas. Among which:
- Garlic tincture. 200 g of garlic is crushed, the pulp is mixed with vodka 1:1. Lotions are made from the mixture and applied to the affected areas.
- Drink potato juice half an hour before meals. It can also be used to treat papillomas externally.
- Baths in herbal decoctions. Healers believe that infusions of chamomile, St. John's wort, wormwood and other beneficial herbs can be used to remove condylomas.
Without complex therapy, folk remedies will only harm the skin, and papillomas will appear again and again.
When curing papillomas on the body, experts recommend the use of tablets. In addition to the anti-inflammatory effect, the drugs are immunomodulators. Thus, they have a double effect: they destroy the viral infection and normalize the functioning of the immune system. Most often, doctors prescribe the following drugs:
- "Acyclovir".
- "Alpizarin".
- "Cycloferon".
- "Lycopid".
- "Isoprinosine."
And it is important to remember, do not make the decision to purchase the drug on your own. Since the tablets against viral infection contain components for the immune system
And they are prescribed only after a comprehensive examination.

Most medications are used during pregnancy if the benefit to the mother is greater than the risk to the fetus. During childbirth, the child may become infected through the birth canal; it is advisable to remove the formation.
Since most medications have contraindications during pregnancy, it is preferable to remove them using hardware procedures:
- cryotherapy;
- laser removal;
- radio wave method.
Approved drugs during pregnancy: interferon, viferon, betadine.
Consequences and complications
Most often, condylomas do not pose a serious threat to the health of the carrier. After therapy, the disease subsides and may not make itself felt at all, or appear only at times of decreased immunity. Therefore, doctors recommend that people who have suffered from condylomas carefully monitor the state of their immunity.
Condylomas pose a particular danger to the expectant mother and her child. A baby can become infected from the mother while passing through the birth canal, through the placenta, or at home.
The consequences of HPV infection are also unfavorable for women who are just planning their pregnancy, since the human papilloma virus can cause cervical dysplasia, which can degenerate into oncology. Such a disease can only be cured through surgical excision.
Reference! HPV types 16 and 18 most often cause the development of cancer in women.
For the stronger sex, the HPV virus is less dangerous in terms of consequences. The risk of developing cancer due to genital warts is extremely low.
From all of the above, we can conclude that the consequences of HPV infection are as follows:
- Warts on the genitals.
- Risk of transmission of infection to the fetus.
- Development of cervical erosion.
- Risk of developing cancer.
Types of HPV with oncogenic risk
Currently, there are more than 600 types (strains) of papillomavirus found in humans. Of these, approximately 40 can cause damage to the anogenital tract of men and women, which is manifested by the formation of condylomas or the development of precancerous changes within the epithelium with the subsequent development of cancer of the cervix, vagina, vulva, anus, and penis.
All types of papillomaviruses are divided into three groups according to their oncogenic danger to humans1:
- human papillomaviruses of low oncogenic risk: 6, 11, 40, 42, 43, 44;
- viruses of intermediate oncogenic risk: 35, 51, 52, 58;
- viruses of high oncogenic risk: 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 56.
The oncogenicity of the virus is explained by its ability to integrate its DNA into the genome of human cells.
Salicylic ointment
A product based on salicylic acid is used to treat warts and papillomas almost as often as oxolinka. The active ingredient in the cream is usually contained in 3 or 5 percent concentration. The components strongly irritate the skin, and therefore you can only smear the growths themselves.
Most of the contraindications for use are similar to previous drugs. The substance should not be applied to the skin of children or people who may experience an allergic reaction from it. However, there is another factor - the medicine is not suitable for people with kidney failure.
The disadvantages of the product are increased fat content and the likelihood of itching and flaking. The ointment is difficult to wash off, and skin hygiene is an integral part of the treatment of condylomas. However, otherwise people note the high effectiveness of the drug.
Feedback on the use of salicylic ointment:
“This medicine is easy to find in almost every pharmacy, and the price is low. I would have liked a faster result, but the warts still went away in about three weeks. Of course, we need to monitor for relapses, but so far no re-treatment has been required.”
What types of HPV exist?
HPV infection of anogenital localization can occur in latent, subclinical and clinical forms. In the latent form, the virus is detected, but there are no changes in the epithelium. Subclinical infection is detected only using a test with 3% acetic acid and manifests itself as small flat warts. The clinical form of human papillomavirus infection can occur in the form of intraepithelial lesions (within the epithelium) in women and men, which are not visible to the naked eye, but are detected by colposcopy and cytological/histological examination and can lead to precancerous diseases and cancer. And also in the form of genital warts, which are soft papillary formations on a stalk, prone to fusion. Merging, they form colonies that look like cauliflower.
The manifestations of human papillomavirus are variable and depend on the type of virus. HPV of low oncogenic risk also leads to the appearance of warts and papillomas:
- Vulgar warts are hard growths more than 1 mm in diameter with a rough, keratinized surface. It is possible for papillomas to merge to form large areas of damage.
- Plantar warts are hard, flat formations on the skin of the foot, rising above its level and covered with a layer of keratinized epithelium. They have a protruding rim. Sometimes one wart produces daughter warts.
- Flat warts are skin formations in the form of flat nodules up to 5 mm in size. Flat warts, as a rule, are multiple and are located in groups on the face, back of the hands, and legs.
- Threaded papillomas affect the area around the eyes, groin, neck and armpits. They are elongated formations of elastic consistency measuring 5-6 mm.
There are three known routes of transmission of HPV:
- contact and household;
- sexual (genital, anal, oral-genital);
- in childbirth from mother to child.
Predisposing factors that contribute to infection and the development of infection are vitamin deficiency, immunodeficiency, smoking, endometriosis, physical overload and chronic fatigue, pregnancy, urogenital infections, as well as any chronic diseases that negatively affect the immune system. The risk of infection increases with frequent contact with bare human skin, for example during massage.
Stefalin
A medicine that consists entirely of natural ingredients and does not contain any chemical additives. The ointment has the property of “pulling out” the roots of papillomas from the inside, destroying their structure. During the treatment process, the growths dry out and fall off spontaneously, leaving no scars, scars or other visual consequences on the skin or mucous membranes.
Stefalin contains the following herbs: alpine sundew, ivy, burdock, celandine, aspen leaves, buttercup anemone. The ointment has both a drying and cauterizing effect, working locally without entering the body. Does not cause allergic reactions, but after application the skin may turn red, itch and itch for 20-40 minutes.
Directions for use: the ointment should be applied to clean skin after hygienic treatment once a day before bedtime. If you have a large diameter papilloma, you can use the product 2 times a day - in the morning and evening. The damaged area should not be wetted for 4-5 hours. To avoid burns if the cream gets on healthy skin, rinse immediately with warm water and wipe off with a damp cloth. It is recommended to use Stefalin for 7 days in a row, after which a break is taken.
Price: from 1500 rub. Not sold in pharmacies, distributed via the Internet.
The choice of one or another remedy to combat papillomas depends on individual tolerance, the degree of damage to the genital organs, as well as the advanced state of the disease and the financial capabilities of the patient. If there is no desired effect from using the drug, it is recommended to use laser and radio wave removal of warts or cryodestruction.
Detailed information about the human papillomavirus, methods of its diagnosis and treatment, is presented in this video.
VIFERON Suppositories for HPV
Since infection with the virus and the appearance of papillomas and condylomas on the skin and mucous membranes are inextricably linked with the state of the immune system, treatment when the human papillomavirus is detected in the body includes drugs that not only fight viruses, but also help restore immunity. One of these drugs is VIFERON, which has a wide spectrum of antiviral activity and strengthens the immune system. Recombinant interferon alpha-2b, which is part of this drug, has immunomodulatory, antiviral properties (blocks virus replication) and helps restore the immune system. It is identical to human interferon alpha-2b, but is produced using modern technology without the use of donor blood.
Release form and composition
The drug, which is available in the form of suppositories, gel and ointment, was developed as a result of fundamental research in the field of immunology, which has proven that in the presence of antioxidants (vitamins C, E), the antiviral effect of interferon is enhanced.
VIFERON Suppositories are produced in the form of bullet-shaped rectal suppositories of white-yellow or yellow color. The drug suppresses the activity of viruses and increases the effectiveness of the body's own immune response to pathogenic microorganisms. Cocoa butter, which is part of the drug, contains phospholipids, due to which the medicinal substances are evenly distributed throughout the suppository, which ensures their rapid and almost 100% entry into the blood. Unlike cocoa powder, butter does not contain natural allergens and does not irritate the mucous membrane. The properties of cocoa butter make it possible to avoid the need to add synthetic toxic emulsifiers, which, in the case of using solid fat as the basis of suppositories, are used to uniformly distribute and increase the bioavailability (absorption) of the active substance.
Indications for use for HPV
The drug in the form of suppositories can be used during pregnancy (from the 14th week), as well as during breastfeeding and when treating children.
The drug is used in children and adults as part of complex therapy to combat a number of diseases, including infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urogenital tract in adults (human papillomavirus, chlamydia, cytomegalovirus infection, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, gardnerellosis, bacterial vaginosis, recurrent vaginal candidiasis, mycoplasmosis). It reduces the frequency of relapses and prevents the progression of cervical pathology associated with HPV infection.
VIFERON suppositories for HPV: drug dosage
Information on how to use VIFERON Suppositories for human papillomavirus is contained in the instructions. The recommended dose for adults is VIFERON 500,000 IU, 1 suppository 2 times a day after 12 hours every day for 5-10 days. According to clinical indications, therapy can be continued.
Before using suppositories, check their expiration date. It is not recommended to use candles that have expired. Before using a rectal suppository, you should wash your hands thoroughly. The candle wrapper must be carefully cut with scissors and its contents removed. Then you need to lie on any side convenient for the procedure, completely straightening your lower leg and bending your upper leg towards your stomach. Then you need to slowly insert the suppository into the anus, pushing it past the muscle sphincter with the tip of your finger. After inserting the suppository, the buttocks should be brought together and held in this position for several seconds.
The use of Viferon suppositories against HPV during pregnancy
Pregnant women from the second trimester of pregnancy (starting from the 14th week of gestation) are prescribed VIFERON 500,000 IU, 1 suppository 2 times a day every 12 hours daily for 10 days, then for 9 days 3 times with an interval of 3 days (on the fourth day) 1 suppository 2 times a day after 12 hours. Then every 4 weeks until delivery - the drug in a dosage of 150,000 IU, 1 suppository 2 times a day every 12 hours every day for 5 days. If necessary, the drug is prescribed before delivery (from the 38th week of gestation) at a dosage of 500,000 IU, 1 suppository 2 times a day after 12 hours every day for 10 days.
Levomekol ointment
The ointment contains several active ingredients: chloramphenicol and methyluracil. The product promotes the process of skin regeneration, restores water balance, and also reduces the growth and development of pathogenic microorganisms.
Thanks to the above properties, Levomekol ointment for papillomas can be used on the eyelids. The drug has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect, so with regular use for 4-5 weeks, warts disappear without a trace.
Treatment with medication is carried out by applying a complex ointment to each papilloma separately; this is most conveniently done using a special applicator. When treating areas affected by papillomavirus in the neck and décolleté, healthy skin should be protected from contact with the ointment using a regular cosmetic cream.
In order to get rid of the disease, the drug should be used twice a day, in the morning and before going to bed.
The ointment has an affordable price, which does not exceed the price of 150 rubles.
The most effective ointments and creams for papillomas and warts
The best ointment is considered to be one that simultaneously exhibits several therapeutic effects. It stimulates regeneration, relieves inflammation and suppresses the activity of infectious agents. After using it, there are no visible marks left on the skin - scars, spots, dents. Pharmacies offer many remedies for papillomavirus infection. It is advisable to entrust the choice of the best quality to a doctor. It necessarily takes into account the localization of the growth and the possibility of its magnesization (malignancy).
Verrucacid
The use of Verrucacid gives the best results in cleansing the skin of pathological growths. Its composition is represented by phenol and metacresol with a mummifying effect. The drug has a cauterizing effect, coagulates skin proteins, helping to reduce papilloma. New growths dry out and fall off after 2-3 weeks
The concentrated solution is carefully applied once a day, avoiding contact of the solution with healthy skin. Price - from 200 rubles
Feresol
This is a combined ointment for papillomas, a treatment that allows you to achieve a pronounced cauterizing effect. Its active ingredients are tricresol and phenol.
The medicine is applied to papillomas once a day. Then use any keratolytic ointment to remove dead tissue. The duration of the therapeutic course is until the growth is completely dissolved. You can buy Feresol for 250 rubles.
Verruxin
The composition of the gel is formed from collodion, salicylic and lactic acid. First, the papilloma softens, and then rapidly decreases in size. Verruxin is a fairly safe remedy that is suitable for both adults and children. It is used for 2 weeks, but the first results are noticeable after 2 days. The drug is applied morning and evening directly to the wart or papilloma. The cost of a Finnish cauterizing agent exceeds 1,300 rubles. The decision to treat a child with Verruxin is made by the doctor.
Verruxin – gel for papillomas and warts
Clareol
This is not a pharmacological drug, but a cosmetic gel for removing papillomas, condylomas and warts. Its composition is represented by acrylate and caustic sodium hydroxide. It also contains the well-known regeneration stimulator dexpanthenol, which eliminates the formation of scars. Clareol is applied pointwise to pathological growths twice a day and rubbed in well. Treatment is carried out until they are completely destroyed. The cost of the gel is 1200 rubles. The drug is not intended for removing papillomas from the face.
Panavir
The therapeutic effect of Panavir is due to the high concentration of potato shoot extract. It is a high molecular weight polysaccharide glycoside with moderate antiviral activity. The use of ointment increases the body's immunity to papillomavirus infection. It simultaneously increases the production of its own interferons and reduces inflammation.
The product is applied to the seal up to five times a day, every four hours. The duration of the course of treatment varies from 2 weeks to a month. The price of Panavir is 160 rubles.
Acyclovir and its imported analog Zovirax
These ointments prevent the replication of viral RNAs and block the proliferation of pathogens. They penetrate into the deepest layers of papillomas and immediately exhibit healing properties. Acyclovir accumulates in cells containing papillomaviruses. Its influence does not extend to healthy tissues, which eliminates the development of local adverse reactions.
Zovirax and Acyclovir are used up to 5 times a day to prevent the enlargement of growths. Therapy lasts about a week until the infection subsides. The cost of a domestic drug is 30 rubles, an imported one is 200 rubles.
Acyclovir is a drug effective against herpes simplex, herpes zoster and chickenpox viruses
Viferon
Ointment for warts and papillomas contains human recombinant interferon α-2b. The active ingredient has immunomodulatory, antiproliferative and antiviral effects. The drug also contains alpha-tocopherol, citric and benzoic acids, which have antioxidant properties. They also exhibit anti-inflammatory, membrane-stabilizing, and regenerating activity.
The antiviral agent is applied 3-4 times a day in a thin layer to the papillomas and rubbed in gently. Duration of therapy - from 5 to 7 days
The price of Viferon does not exceed 160 rubles.
Levomekol ointment
The drug is classified as a complex ointment. The ointment contains two active ingredients:
- chloramphenicol (antibiotic);
- methyluracil (immunostimulant).
“Levomekol” triggers skin renewal processes at the cellular level, and also restores water balance, blocks the growth and development of bacteria, and has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. Often, when using Levomekol ointment for 4-5 weeks, not the slightest trace remains of papillomas.
Ointment therapy is carried out by applying it to each individual papilloma. Naturally, it is optimal to carry out the procedures using a special applicator to avoid contact of the medicinal product with healthy skin. If Levomekol is used to treat the mucous membranes of the oral cavity or genital organs, then healthy tissues must be protected with a neutral cream.
To completely forget about the problem, you should do this procedure twice a day for 5-7 days. Afterwards they take a four-day break and repeat the treatment. Regarding the cost, we can say that Levomekol is a fairly budget-friendly product - its price does not exceed 150 rubles per tube of ointment.

Causes of papillomas in intimate places
Among the main reasons for transmission of the virus are the following:
- sexual contact with a carrier of a dangerous disease, including when using a condom, which does not protect against the penetration of the papilloma virus;
- intrauterine HPV infection in the presence of the disease in a pregnant woman;
- close contact with the skin or mucous membranes of an infected person, especially if they have obvious damage;
- visiting public baths, swimming pools and saunas;
- ingress of lubricant from the vagina or urethra, including that remaining on bed or underwear;
- using common hygiene items, towels and clothing, especially if they contain blood, saliva, semen and other biological fluids.
Causes of papillomas in intimate places in women
The following factors can also additionally stimulate the formation of papillomas:
- smoking and drinking alcohol;
- weakened immune system;
- unstable psycho-emotional state;
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- problems with the gastrointestinal tract;
- the need for long-term use of hormonal drugs, antibiotics and medications to stimulate the immune system;
- frequent viral diseases.
The majority - about 80% - become infected with the virus that causes papillomas in intimate places during sexual intercourse with a carrier of this disease.
The virus quickly attacks healthy skin cells upon contact with affected skin and mucous membranes. Since the process of sexual intercourse involves friction, and also causes microdamage and cracks in the epithelium, the risk of infection increases significantly. You can also become infected with HPV through:
- general use of household items;
- touching contaminated areas;
- carrying out procedures using untreated gynecological devices;
- visiting public places associated with skin contact;
Papillomavirus manifests itself when immunity decreases in the following cases:
- reduced protective function of the body due to previous diseases;
- unfavorable climatic conditions or polluted environment;
- age-related changes in the body and hormonal imbalances;
- exposure to stressful conditions;
- toxic poisoning of the body;
- taking antibiotics and long-term drug treatment;
- smoking and drinking alcohol;
- uneven physical activity.
Some papillomas can go away on their own as soon as immunity is restored, but most formations in intimate places have to be removed using conservative or surgical methods.
The human papillomavirus can live in the human body for many months or years and manifest itself under the influence of certain factors. Often people do not realize that they are carriers of the virus, infecting others.
HPV is transmitted:
- Through sexual relations with an infected person. The barrier method of protection is not a 100% guarantee that the disease will not enter the body.
- From mother to child through the passage of the birth canal or transmission of some strains through the placenta.
- Close contact with the mucous membrane of an infected person. Such intimacy is possible outside of sexual contact.
- The household method of transmission is through the use of common hygiene items, visiting saunas and swimming pools.
After infection, the incubation period is long - from 5 weeks to a year. If after this time the virus does not appear, it is suppressed by the immune system. But the person remains contagious.
There are a number of factors that provoke the manifestation of the virus:
- weakened immunity due to previous diseases;
- stress, fatigue, psycho-emotional disturbances;
- bad habits – smoking, alcohol;
- pregnancy;
- avitaminosis;
- venereal diseases;
- long-term treatment with antibiotics, taking hormonal drugs.
The process of papilloma formation in the intimate places of men and women is associated with infection with HPV - the human papilloma virus. The pathology is characterized by a long incubation period and is clearly manifested with a significant weakening of the immune system. The risk group for the development of papillomatosis includes:
- Pregnant women.
- People who practice promiscuity and unprotected sex.
- Patients with a history of sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea, herpes, chlamydia).
- Women with vaginal dysbiosis.
- Category of weakened persons with the problem of vitamin deficiency.
- Relatives of the patient who use shared bath accessories (the pathogenic strain survives well in humid conditions).
What is the best way to remove warts in the groin?
Any warts should only be removed by a qualified professional. It is especially important to be careful when choosing skin removal techniques in areas with thin skin, including the genital and groin areas. The use of various chemicals with an uncontrolled depth of action leads to burns of healthy tissue, the formation of deep wounds and subsequent scar deformation.
Rice. 3. To remove warts in the groin, you can use ALDAR cream
To remove warts in the groin, it is better to use a laser. It allows you to eliminate growths on the skin through vaporization - evaporation of a skin formation or wart from exposure to light energy and high temperatures.
Rice. 4. Cryotherapy - freezing warts with liquid nitrogen
Laser removal of various warts is superior to other removal methods in terms of its effectiveness and does not carry the risk of relapse of the disease, cicatricial deformation of the affected area, or contamination of the surrounding skin. In addition, the procedure itself is one-time, i.e. it does not require repeated sessions. It is carried out without pain and blood.
Warts in the groin should be removed if:
- They are often injured and bleed.
- There is a risk of infection.
- Pain and burning occurs during sexual intercourse, urination or defecation.
- The warts are growing and they have an unpleasant odor.
The growths are removed in different ways. The appropriate option must be selected together with the doctor, depending on the type of formation, degree of damage, contraindications, duration of the procedure and recovery period.

Medicines that have worked well
A short review of the most popular ointments that are used to treat condyloma and papilloma.
Salicylic ointment
Salicylic ointment has keratolytic, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects. Prescribed for the treatment of condylomas, excluding use on the face and genitals.
The main active ingredient of the ointment, salicylic acid, increases the absorption of drugs by the mucous membranes, which can cause unwanted side effects: irritation, itching. When treating growths, you will need to cover healthy areas of the skin and apply the ointment directly to the growth that needs to be removed.
Ready-made salicylic ointment is available in pharmacies without a prescription. In the absence of a ready-made drug, it is possible to prepare the required amount of fresh ointment. In this case, you will need a prescription, which can be written by your doctor.
The ointment is available with acid concentrations of 1%, 2%, 3% or 5%. There are options for salicylic ointment that contain zinc and sulfur. These drugs are not mentioned in the treatment of warts.
Viferon
It is a complex drug with pronounced anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. The medication contains interferon, which helps increase the body's defense against viruses.
In the case of treating human papillomavirus, which is caused by a decrease in the body's ability to resist viral attacks, this is extremely important
When treating condylomas, the drug’s ability to neutralize antibodies caused by viruses is of particular importance. Vitamin E and peach oil effectively stop inflammatory processes and promote the restoration of damaged tissues.
Ointment and gel can be used in intimate areas and mucous membranes. There are no contraindications other than individual intolerance. There are restrictions on age and during pregnancy - these nuances must be discussed with the doctor prescribing the course of therapy.
Ridoxol
The active ingredient is triiodresorcinol, an antiseptic. It is especially effective when used in the treatment of simple papillomas. Can be used on mucous membranes, in places that require special delicate care.
The concentration of the ointment (0.25%, 0.5% or 1%) is selected by the doctor in accordance with the degree of development of the disease and taking into account the location of the condylomas. The action of the product is quite delicate, eliminating local irritation. Simultaneously provided antiseptic, bacteriostatic and antifungal effects have a positive effect on the result of treatment of condylomas on any part of the body, including intimate areas.
Panavi
The active substance of the Panavir gel is a purified extract of the shoots of the Solanum tuberosum plant, which has a pronounced antiviral effect. The drug blocks the synthesis of viral DNA in affected skin cells. The drug, created on a natural basis, copes with infectious and inflammatory skin lesions and is used to treat condylomas located on the genitals.
The drug has some pronounced positive properties:
- improves the functioning of the immune system;
- characterized by deep penetration;
- eliminates the occurrence of scars on affected areas;
- does not cause allergies;
- stable when applied.
Epigenes
It is used in combination with drugs for the treatment of viruses and locally - condylomas, as a means of stimulating the regeneration process. Additional preventive effect, eliminates the development of new formations. Has an antiviral effect.
The active substance is glycyrrhizic acid, which accumulates in lesions and directly affects DNA and RNA containing viruses. The drug is actively used by obstetricians and gynecologists as a delicate anti-inflammatory agent. This is quite justified, since neoplasms on the pelvic organs are easily injured. Treatment is carried out in courses of 7 days and lasts 1.5–2 months.
Epigen is available in the form of cream and spray. Indications include treatment of infections of the genital organs, mucous membranes, prevention of infection with the human papillomavirus.
Truths and myths about human papillomavirus
FACT 1. Human papillomavirus can cause cervical pathology in the form of precancerous changes and cervical cancer.
This is true. Certain types of virus can cause serious health problems. The virus is found in most patients with cervical cancer. Human papillomavirus of medium and low oncogenic risk leads to the appearance of condylomas, papillomas and warts throughout the body and genitals. These lesions are not precancerous and require treatment for cosmetic reasons.
FACT 2: Condoms and other barrier contraceptives protect against HPV transmission.
It is a myth. Of course, using condoms reduces the risk of contracting the virus, but they are not able to completely protect against infection. Especially in cases where formations in the intimate area are located outside the organs protected by the contraceptive.2
FACT 3. The presence of human papillomavirus in the body is determined by a blood test for antibodies.
It is a myth. Antibodies in the blood can be detected as evidence that the body has previously encountered HPV. The virus itself can only be detected in squamous epithelial cells, which are present on the mucous membranes and skin.
FACT 4. You can completely get rid of the human papillomavirus.
It is a myth. At the moment, there is no method of combating the virus that would permanently eliminate it from the body. However, the manifestations of the virus can be successfully combated with a course of treatment with immunomodulatory drugs with antiviral activity, including the drug VIFERON.1,2
FACT 5. Human papillomavirus can disappear on its own without treatment.
This is true. This phenomenon is called “self-elimination”, which is possible within 6-24 months after infection, as a consequence of an adequate immune response. Most often it happens to women under 26-30 years of age.2 After 30 years, the likelihood of self-healing decreases significantly and the majority remain carriers of the human papillomavirus.
