Papilloma virus on the human body: symptoms, causes, diagnosis, treatment

Skin tags, or papillae, are small, soft, benign skin growths that occur in groups. Up to 100 such growths can be found on one person’s body. Older people who are overweight are more prone to the appearance of such skin formations. Skin tags are often found on the eyelids, neck, armpits, groin folds and under the breasts.

Skin growths usually do not bother you in any way, but sometimes they can change color, become thicker and hurt.

Genital warts - routes of infection

The route of infection with HPV is contact. But household infection with the human papillomavirus is also possible. When a person comes into contact with infected skin or mucous membranes of a sick person, HPV infection occurs. Very often, this does not appear outwardly; the virus may not show itself for a long time. But under certain conditions (decreased immunity, concomitant diseases), HPV is released onto the surface of the skin and mucous membranes. In a latent (dormant) state, infection of other people with HPV is rare. From the moment of HPV infection to the appearance of genital warts, it can take from several weeks to several years.

There are “low-risk” and “high-risk” types of HPV. Genital warts are caused by “low-risk” HPV types 6 and 11.

Treatment of papillomas, condylomas (HPV)

  • performed on the body by a dermatologist-cosmetologist,
  • on the male genitals - urologist,
  • for women - a gynecologist,
  • in the area of the anus and perineum - a proctologist.

There is now a treatment that is highly likely to eliminate HPV infection. Modern treatment for genital warts can not only remove or reduce the symptoms of the disease, it eliminates the HPV infection and prevents further transmission of the virus in many cases. However, after any treatment method, relapses are possible.

  • Laser removal of genital warts is performed under local anesthesia.
  • Electrocoagulation, removal of genital warts using high temperature, is carried out under local anesthesia.
  • Interferon blockades (genital warts are injected with an interferon drug).
  • Radio wave removal of condylomas. Today, the most effective method for removing genital warts. There is no trace left of condylomas.

Antiviral therapy

Complex therapy involves the use of special drugs orally. Removing papilloma is not enough; it is necessary to fight the virus that caused its appearance.

Patients are prescribed the following medications:

Isoprinosine

NameApplicationContraindications
IsoprinosineThe tablets are taken orally after meals with plenty of water. The recommended dosage for adults is 50 mg/kg per day. The specified volume of medication should be divided into 3-4 doses. The duration of treatment is 5-14 days.
  • urolithiasis disease;
  • gout;
  • individual sensitivity;
  • arrhythmia;
  • chronic renal failure;
  • pregnancy.
PapinolDrops are taken orally every day, 3 ml must first be diluted in 0.5 tbsp. water. The course of treatment lasts 10-14 days.
  • individual sensitivity;
  • allergy;
  • pregnancy and lactation period.

If the oral cavity is affected, it is recommended to rinse with antiseptic agents (Miramistin, Chlorhexidine).

Papillomatosis

Papillomatosis on the mucous membrane of the tongue
Papillomatosis is a condition in which the number of neoplasms increases sharply and spreads throughout the body. It is also called the generalized form of papillomavirus. Typically, a large accumulation of papillomas is found on the hands, face, and genital area. Papillomatosis that occurs in the mucous membranes or on internal organs is potentially dangerous for humans.

Most often, papillomatosis is mentioned with the appearance of juvenile papillomas localized in the larynx. They are the ones who are prone to large growth.

Medications

A good alternative to traditional treatment can be drug therapy prescribed by a specialist. There are many ways to treat this disease. However, none of the options for removing skin tumors guarantees getting rid of virus cells, so the growths may appear again. A third of patients cannot completely get rid of HPV, so their papillomas appear again, but they must be removed each time.

Complex treatment of the disease is carried out using the following medications for internal and external use:

  1. The use of antiviral drugs is indicated. Doctors usually prescribe Isoprinosine as an antiviral agent and Panavir or Genferon to stimulate the immune system response.
  2. To cauterize small and single formations, use a solution of Solcoderm or Condilin. These drugs allow you to remove papillomas using non-hardware and non-surgical methods. To prevent the growth of tumors, the drug Podophyllin is prescribed.

Despite the abundance of methods for treating papillomas, various methods for their removal are very popular.

How to determine the type of growth?

Types of papillomas (a photo with a description will show what a growth may look like) will help determine a comprehensive examination. The doctor prescribes instrumental and laboratory tests to the patient, taking into account his condition and complaints.

NameDescription
ColcoscopyA diagnostic method that involves the use of acetic acid.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)The examination helps determine not only the papilloma virus, but also other diseases.
BiopsyThe specialist takes a small piece of the wart to determine in the laboratory the nature of the tumor.

Ultrasound examination (ultrasound) helps confirm or refute the development of papilloma inside the human body.

Do not delay your visit to the doctor, genital warts must be removed! If papillomas are not removed, they can spread throughout the body. The virus can be transmitted to other people with whom an HPV-infected person comes into contact. A woman can infect her fetus during childbirth. Cases of familial infection with the human papillomavirus are common.

Folk remedies

Since the process of formation of papillomas is directly related to the state of the immune system, many traditional medicines are aimed at maintaining and strengthening the body's defenses. For this purpose, various multicomponent herbal preparations are used:

  1. You need to take 30 g each of wormwood, celandine, chamomile and eucalyptus. 100 g of this mixture is poured with boiling water (1 l) and infused in a thermos overnight.
  2. After straining, take half a glass 1 time per day on an empty stomach for three months. Such courses are held twice a year.

You can remove papilloma at home by burning it out. This procedure is best done on the waning moon. You can use one of the following methods:

  • three times per knock you need to lubricate the new growths with evaporated celandine juice (it should be quite thick);
  • Using a cotton swab, ammonia is applied to the papillomas (after several procedures it should disappear);
  • within a month, skin formations should be lubricated with castor oil;
  • For cauterization, you can use iodine (smear neoplasms on the skin with it several times a day).

Important! Despite the high effectiveness of iodine, it must be used very carefully so as not to damage surrounding tissues.

Dermatologists warn that to remove papillomas on the butt and other parts of the body, it is prohibited to use ripping, tying with thread, or cutting at home. All this can lead to a chronic inflammatory process and the spread of infection.

Removal

Today, the following methods of getting rid of skin growths are used:

  • Papillomas are often removed with a laser. The neoplasm is simply burned out, and in its place a dry crust is formed that heals for a long time.
  • The radio wave removal method is the most effective and less traumatic compared to other methods. The essence of the method is as follows: a beam of high-frequency radio waves is sent to the desired location, which begins to generate heat and remove only modified pathological tissue formations.
  • Electrocoagulation is used not only to remove growths, but also to biopsy their tissue. High temperatures are used for removal. At the same time, the effect on healthy tissue is minimal.
  • Cryotherapy. The growths are simply frozen out due to exposure to low temperatures. Despite the fact that papillomas die off after such exposure, scars may remain on the skin. Tissue necrosis is also possible.
  • Applications with acid solutions. This method is less popular due to its high cost and relatively low efficiency.
  • Surgical removal is used only to get rid of large formations and those that are localized in hard-to-reach places. Disadvantages of the technique: the need for pain relief, traumatic.

Attention! Treatment tactics and the method of removing any skin tumor should be chosen only by a specialist after conducting tests and examinations to determine whether the growth is malignant or benign.

Skin growths on their own very rarely go away. More often they tend to gradually increase in size. Their number may also increase, that is, more and more new papillomas appear. And cancerous neoplasms, if treated incorrectly or without it, can lead to death.

Plantar warts

These growths are more typical for children and adolescents; they are rare in adults. They are considered a common reaction of the body to decreased immunity, accompanied by injuries to the soles due to uncomfortable shoes. Unlike an ordinary callus, a wart is rough and has jagged edges. Also, a skin pattern is clearly visible on the callus.

Reasons for appearance

Papillomas and condylomas appear due to the penetration of the human papillomavirus (HPV) into the body. There are about a hundred varieties of this virus. When an infection enters the skin, it penetrates the cells of the basal layer of the epidermis. The degeneration of a human cell occurs after the virus removes the protein shell of a healthy cell.

Important! In a person with a strong immune system, HPV DNA cannot penetrate the chromosome of the cell nucleus, so there are no signs of the disease.

Infection occurs when the immune system is weakened. The infected, modified cell contributes to the further spread of the virus, which causes the appearance of papillomas on the buttock, thigh and other parts of the body. Since the virus cannot infect blood cells, it appears only in certain areas of the skin, and not throughout the body.

There are several ways of transmitting the virus:

  • HPV is most often transmitted sexually, since the mucous membranes are more susceptible to infection;
  • contact infection is possible both in a public place and when using common household items at home;
  • infection of the child can occur during childbirth;
  • self-infection is possible when the virus lives on the skin.

Papillomas can appear when immunity decreases due to stress, illness, during hormonal changes, alcoholism and other conditions that provoke immunodeficiency.
